Five on Friday

by Ally Harding, 7:33 AM

Saturday night we are going to the "Last Summer on Earth Tour" featuring Barenaked Ladies, Guster, and Ben Folds. Theo won free tickets from work. I guess it was started last year because if you remember the world was supposed to end December 21st, or was it the 20th? Either way it didn't happen, obviously, so they are keeping the tour going. I'm not really a huge fan of any of the bands.  Barenaked Ladies are kind of outdated I think, and Ben Folds is a little boring, I mean "Brick"?? Probably one of the most depressing songs ever. Guster is good. They're Theo's favorite band and I like them, kind of, I've just seen them in concert a few times before. But I can't complain, we have good seats and we're going for FREE!

I have to toot Madewell's horn one more time. I wore this dress for the first time at our beach house last week.
I was so excited to wear it, I mean it has pockets you guys! And the strap broke! i was leaning over to eat and the dress didn't have any slack so the strap had nothing else to do but pop. I was so sad. Then I remembered how awesome Madewell's customer service is so I pulled out my phone and emailed them right then, it was like 9pm on a Thursday, and I told them what happened. They replied back very fast and said they are going to go ahead and refund me and to send it back at my convenience. Have you ever heard of a company refunding you BEFORE they receive the item?? For all they know I could have been lying and just wanted the money. I'm a good person so I sent it back but the money has already been credited back to me. So Madewell once again you have impressed me and went above and beyond!

Have y'all heard the new Kings of Leon song "Super Soaker"? I have been listening to it on repeat all week. It really reminds of their old stuff, like "California Waiting",  "Molly's Chambers" and "The Bucket". They've become very mainstream lately and I hate to be that annoying person who's like "I listened to them before they became popular so I'm better than you" but I really liked their old stuff better. "Sex on Fire" is good but ugh, "Use Somebody" is nails on a chalkboard.
Check it out here.

If you're looking for a great wear everyday kind of lip stick/gloss I've found one for you. And the reason I know it'll work for everyone is because it turns it's color based on the temperature of your lips. So it looks different on everyone, but still looks good on everyone.
I actually wore it on my wedding day. It just gives your complexion some extra warmth. It feels great on your lips as it's a moisturizer too. I've only had in the stick version but it's now in the gloss version too so I might try that out next time.

I made this delicious Banana Bread because I had a few brown bananas I didn't want to throw out. It's so easy it doesn't seem like it would make good banana bread but it does. I like to add a lot of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice to the batter too. I also added some Orange Liqueur because it was sitting out and thought "hey, what's it going to hurt?"

Easy Banana Bread

1 1/2 cup flour I used wheat flour
3 bananas mashed I used two because that's all I had
2 eggs
1/2 stick of butter
1 tsp. vanilla I didn't
have vanilla so I used a lot of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice a long with a cap full of Orange Liqueur
1 cup sugar

Mix together butter, eggs, and sugar until smooth. Add bananas and vanilla, mix well. Add in flour.
Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour or until golden brown.
I didn't take into account I was using a convect oven so I think my bread probably only needed 45-50 min. The top was a little overdone but the inside was nice and moist.

Have a good weekend!

  1. Have a great time at the concert! You just may convince me to put my big girl pants on and buy some actual lip gloss (versus the standard Chapstick). And I'm so impressed with the orange liquer addition to the banana bread ha. That's my girl ;)
