It's been a long week for me. I had to work 4 nights this week and let me tell you working 4 12 hour shifts is very different from my normal 3 shifts. I feel like I've been secluded from the real world. So needless to say I am so happy it's Friday!
1. {READ}
I'm a pretty big hypochondriac and being an RN doesn't help that, so when I came across this article on Is My Body Normal? I knew it was made for me. It answers questions like, is it normal to bruise easily? I know I'm always finding random bruises on me and no have clue where they came from. And talks about what to do about your allergies. I have bad allergies and am addicted to Zyrtec.
2. {LISTEN}
I've been hearing this song on Sirius radio channel AltNation a lot lately and I really love it. It's a collaboration song by Bloc Party's singer Kele and MNDR. I don't who they are but it works. On a side note, if you don't have Sirius radio yet you're really missing out. No commercials, no annoying DJ's talking about nothing, and you get to hear new songs earlier than everyone else. Or you can listen to your favorite oldies all day long. The best part is they have a Christmas channel that starts in November! I know I'm a loser.
3. {BUY}
I didn't think Vogue could do it, considering everything in their magazine is usually 3-4 figures, but they put together a list of 100 things for under $100 for Fall. Some of my favorites are:
These earrings for $24
I'm loving this outfit. Everything is less than $100
How cute and comfy do these PJ's look? I usually sleep in a big baggy t shirt and loose shorts so these would be a perfect upgrade from my normal lazy sleepwear.
4. {WATCH}
Speaking of Vogue, in the new October issue Sandra Bullock is on the cover talking about her life and her new movie Gravity. Her awesomeness factor went up a few notches after reading the article. Did you know she lives in Austin, Texas and owns a restaurant and a cute little store/deli? She's super cool and I can't wait to see her in a serious thrilling movie role. Check out the trailer for her new movie Gravity, in theaters next Friday.
5. {EAT}
Since I made that Pumpkin Banana Bread this past week I had a lot of left over pumpkin puree and a few bananas. I looked up smoothie recipes with bananas and pumpkin and found a few yummy ones. The key ingredient is pumpkin pie spice. It makes all the difference. I think I may even stock up on cans of pumpkin puree so I can make these smoothies all year round.
2 servings
Ingredients
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 medium size banana
3/4 cup vanilla yogurt I nixed this since I try not to eat a lot of dairy and it was still just as good.
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup crushed ice
Recipe
Mix all together in blender until smooth.
Sprinkle cinnamon on top for taste and garnish.
Enjoy!
RNs are totally hypochondriacs! We can't help it. :(
ReplyDeleteI love Sandra Bullock, but that movie looks kind of scary. I'm kind of a weenie when it comes to anything that isn't a comedy. Hahaha
Happy Friday, and get some rest. 4 12's is enough to make anyone go crazy!
Those jammies are so cute! I've been wanting a nice, classic pj set!
ReplyDeleteLove Sandra Bullock - although that movie looks petrifying - space scares me lol...but I'm sure I will still end up seeing it.

RN's deserve so much more respect than they get! I worked in an hospital on the administrative side and girl...I just don't see how you do it between all the sanctions and attitudes. Whew! Kudos to you! Oh and sign me up for those pajamas! I bruise really easy and in really weird places....but am afraid to read that link!!!
ReplyDeleteAlready have canned pumpkin on my list for some smoothies this weekend, too. Have a great weekend and enjoy your time off! :)
ReplyDeleteI have an immense amount of respect for RNs, you are amazing people in my experience. So happy Friday to you!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, props to Vogue for looking out for us little people for once! Isn't it nice to see things you could actually afford?

I want those jammies!! Hope you relax this weekend! 12 hour shifts sounds like a doozy - I struggle getting through a 9 hour workday!

ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend lady :)
I bruise ALL the time!! I always spot a new random bruise...I think I need that book! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to check out that Vogue article! I usually avoid fashion magazines since they are always so expensive and not usually that practical, but I love those earrings and the pajamas look so comfy and feminine!
ReplyDeletethat smoothie looks SO yummy! perfect for the warmer fall days :)
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely loving those earrings!
ReplyDeleteIsn’t That Charming.
I think we're related. My doctor *may* have asked me to stop looking at WebMD...
