Weekend Recap

by Ally Harding, 5:00 AM
First and foremost I finished Brain On Fire!!

And it was SO good! Seriously one of the best books I've read in a long time. I swear I finished in it a day. The disease that takes over Susannah's body is so bizarre you just have to finish it to find out what her diagnosis is.

I'll do a quick summary: the book is about Susannah Cahalan, a 24 year old journalist for the New York Post, who starts to have numbness one day in her left hand. Just out of the blue. She then starts to act very different. Starts accusing her boyfriend of cheating on her, starts to say her Dad beat her, I mean things that she has never thought of before. So she's having symptoms of physical weakness and mental illness. She went to the Doctor and all of the tests they run come back fine. The Doctor's were leaning towards diagnosing her with Schizophrenia then she has a Grand Mal Seizure. Eventually she gets admitted into the hospital and once again they are trying to find out what's wrong with her. As I'm reading the book I can't help but think about Reagan from The Exorcist. She starts to act like a person who's possessed by the Devil. The scary thing about all of it is she doesn't remember anything that's going on. It's such a good book and I highly recommend it!!

I started this book this weekend and am having a hard time putting it down too!

Friday night I went out to dinner to Basil with Heather.

Basil was the first Thai restaurant I had ever been to and now I love it. Theo doesn't like Asian food, well except for Hibachi covered and smothered in white sauce, so luckily I have Heather to go to Basil with me whenever I crave it.

Before dinner we stopped by the bar L.I.F.E. and had a drink. L.I.F.E. is such a cool bar but I think people forget about it because it's very small and hidden. You feel like you're in a space ship when you walk in.

Girlfriend evidently had too much wine at home and after eating at Basil had to head on home. Alcohol is so weird, one day you can drink a whole bottle of wine and not feel a thing then the next time have 2 glasses of wine and 1 liquor drink and be done. I was the latter.

I was fine going home early because Saturday we headed to Columbia for the USC vs Vanderbilt game. We had a blast tailgating and a good time at the game!

Stay tuned tomorrow, I'm going to do a 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target review!
