"Darn Good" Chili

by Ally Harding, 5:00 AM
We had a very low key weekend which was nice for a change since the past two weekends we were out of town. We finally watched a scary movie Friday night.

It wasn't my top pick but I realized I had never seen it all the way through so I was ok with it.

Saturday we made the best chili I've eaten. My sister in law got us on the Bear Creek "Darn Good" Chili Mix kick a few years ago and I promise you guys it's the best.

The mix has pretty much everything in it. All you have to add is meat, if you want to, tomato paste and water. It says you can add a cup of salsa and a can of diced tomatoes to make it even better which we did. You can buy it from most grocery stores for around $4. It makes 8 one cup servings.

Theo had the brightest idea to make jalapeno cheddar corn bread. We searched for a recipe that uses Jiffy cornbread mix and found a delicious one. You make the Jiffy cornbread according to directions then add diced jalapenos, use the kind from the can not fresh, you'd probably burn your mouth unless that's your thing, and add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. SO good I tell ya!

I like to add cornbread to my chili. My mouth is watering just looking at this picture!

My mom came over to eat some chili and watch the USC game.

Which was a crazy win. I don't think I've seen my husband go through so many different emotions in 4 hours before.

I picked up on sunflowers at Costco on Sunday and not too sure how to keep them alive.

They seemed to have a woody stem like hydrangeas do so I cut the stem at an angle to allow them to soak up the most water. They haven't bloomed fully yet so fingers crossed I did the right thing!

Have a great Monday!
