Lately

We were pretty busy this past weekend starting with a supper club Friday night. I made these yummy Honey Bars which were so much more delicious than I expected them to be. If you're looking for an easy dessert that everyone will rave about it then make these Honey Bars. They are out of this world and seriously the easiest dessert I've ever made.

Saturday we woke up early and headed to Charlotte to go to Scarowinds that night. Carowinds is an amusement park in Charlotte but during October it becomes Scarowinds and is only open at night. There's haunted houses, people dressed up in costumes walking around to scare you, and scary shows you can watch. I found out a few things about myself while being there, I don't like to ride roller coasters like I used to and I don't like being scared as much I thought I did. It was way too crowded, we waited in line for one ride for an hour and a half. The park is only open for 5 hours so you try to get in as much as you can but with so many people there it's hard.
Only picture I took and of course it's blurry!

I took Sunday night off to catch up on stuff since we're leaving later this week to go to Atlanta. I finally got the porch decorated for Fall.

Sunday night we watched Hocus Pocus and had a knock at the door at 10 pm. I automatically assumed it was someone trying to kill us. I'm not kidding this was seriously the first thought that popped in my head. I watch WAY too many scary moves. After I we both checked to make sure it wasn't a murderer, Theo opened the door and found this on our doorstep
We we're Boo-ed!

Our neighborhood does this cute Halloween tradition where a neighbor puts together a little Halloween gift basket and prints out a "We've been Boo-ed!" sheet and drops it secretly off at neighbor's doorstep who hasn't been Boo-ed yet. You don't know who Boo-ed you but you're supposed to pass on the Boo-ing to another house. You make a random neighbor who hasn't been Boo-ed yet a Halloween gift basket and secretly drop it off on their doorstep and so forth. You put the "We've been Boo-ed" sign on your front door so your neighbor's will know you've been Boo-ed already. It's something I look forward to every year!

This is the form you give to your neighbor. According to the directions you're supposed to Boo 2 neighbors. My Very Opinionated Husband thinks that doesn't make sense. He says it's so that you make up for people who choose not to participate and he thinks if you've been Boo-ed once then you Boo one person, not 2. Personally our neighborhoods small so I just don't see the need in Boo-ing 2 houses so we just Boo one.

OctNOber has been going ok. Although I haven't bought any clothes (YAY!) I have been buying other stuff. So pretty much defeating the whole point of OctNOber. I'm pretty mad at myself actually. I've decided this no shopping pact I made with myself is definitely going to go to the end of the year. I know it sucks but we've talked about taking some big trips next year and I know in the long run those matter more than buying a jacket or shoes just to make me happy right now.

Have a great Tuesday!

  4. Your porch looks AWESOME!!! Funny how when we get "old" we don't enjoy the things we did when we were younger - in not a fan of roller coasters anymore either!

  11. OMG! Your porch! It definitely belongs on Pinterest! Also, died laughing when you said that you automatically assumed someone was there to kill you when you heard the doorbell ring at night. That's totally what I would have thought! :)

That is the one thing I really, really wish we could do in the fall.. decorate a porch but living in an apartment in Chicago that just isn't going to happen!
