Life Lately

by Ally Harding, 5:00 AM
I don't know if it's the fact I've been listening to Christmas music since the middle of November or the fact I've watched all my favorite Christmas movies twice, but I'm ready for Christmas to come and go. I'm sure you Mommas are the thinking the same thing. I loved decorating my house and would leave it up all year if I could, but I'm just ready for my life to get back to normal.

I was surprised twice this past week with gifts that I had posted on my blog that I wanted. First, Theo surprised me with the Cuyana Leather Tote I had been lusting over for our anniversary.

I blogged about it and mentioned it to him everyday a few times, and he secretly had it ordered the whole time. So ladies, don't stop doing your wish lists, your man is probably reading your blog more than you think and might surprise you one day!

It's so funny because I feel like I'm wanting more stuff monogrammed now than ever. I want everything with my new married initials on it. This is such a perfect bag for any occasion or any season not to mention it holds everything. The leather is so soft but sturdy.

My second gift was from sweet Shelby. I know she reads my blog, but I had It's All Good, Gwyneth Paltrow's second cook book on my wish list, and she surprised me with it at our family Christmas party.

It's such a great healthy cookbook. I'm currently roasting chickpeas and cauliflower in the oven as I'm typing this to make Gwennie's Roasted Cauliflower + Chickpeas with Mustard and Parsley. I've actually made it before and if you're a mustand lover like myself this is your meal. Plus it only cost me $4 to make.

Friday night Theo and I hosted a family Christmas party at our house. We had about 15 people over. We made pigs in a blanket and Pioneer Woman's Holiday Roll Ups and all the guests brought an appetizer too.

I was a slack blogger and only took a few pictures.

Little Mimi hovering over the food. We woke up the next day hung over hungry for left overs but there wasn't a thing left! I called my mom and asked how Mimi was doing and she said she didn't feel good and I said that's because she ate all the food!

We had a cookie exchange at work this past week, bad bad idea, and had to bake half a dozen cookies for each person. That meant I had to bake 7 dozen cookies. But it also meant I was given 7 dozen cookies. I put them out at the party hoping they would all go away, because lord knows I don't need 7 dozen cookies!! They were all gone, but then I realized I only put about 3/4 out.

This is what was left, plus the Peppermint Fudge I made. I have no self control when it comes to sweets, so this all went straight to the trash.

Between eating sweets for BLD (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), I've also been drinking this Holiday Nog like it's about to expire. That's not a joke it expires on 12/24/13.

On sale for $2 at Target. If you like Egg Nog but want something lighter or even if you don't like Egg Nog, Holiday Nog is lighter and not so thick. It kind of reminds me of a creamier Chai Tea Latte. So good.

Pixie had a great week too and passed her agility class! I'm so happy for my little nugget. Theo's been taking her every Tuesday for the past 16 weeks or so. She's been in 2 classes, each class was 8 weeks. So now she has a bandana that says LCDA (Lowcountry Dog Agility) and a certificate.

So proud of herself!

Don't worry we aren't going to turn into those crazy, beyond obsessed with our dog people and put her in every agility competition across the USA. It was just something for Theo and Pixie to do together since I work Tuesday nights. Their Daddy/Daughter thing. It melted my heart.

This week isn't looking too great for me. I'm working, Sunday-Tuesday nights, have Christmas day off, then back to work Thursday night. Yuck if you ask me!
