January Favorite Things

I'm linking up today with Emily for
Beauty and the Greek

{ONE}

Starting January 8-19 is Charleston Restaurant Week. A ton of restaurants in the area offer 3 course meals for $20, $30, or $40 dollars. I really look forward to it because it isn't cheap eating out often so restaurant week means I can try an expensive restaurant for a great price. Next Saturday I'm heading to SNOB for dinner with some girlfriends. SNOB stands for Slightly North of Broad. If a visit to Charleston is in your future this is a great time to consider coming. Charleston's culinary scene has really picked up in the last 10 years and there's some amazing restaurants here.

{TWO} I've always used my iPhone calender to keep my schedule in order but since the new upgrade the calender has changed for the worse and I can't stand it. I decided to start fresh this year with an actual day planner. As soon as I found Brittany Fuson's designs online I became obsessed and knew her 2014 day planner was going to be my new planner.

Brittany designs the cutest, most fashionable girls. I love how they all have long eye lashes and super long legs.

She can also do custom bridal illustrations which I'm dying to have.
I mean how cute are these?! I'm definitely going to be using Brittany Fuson Paper for note cards, invitations, and note pads in the future.

{THREE} I'll be honest, now that the holiday season is over I get sad and a little depressed. It's kind of like when your wedding is over and you have nothing to look forward to anymore. I'm trying to work on the Goals I made for myself to get over this hump. One of the Goals I made this year is to read more. I guess the girls over at A Beautiful Mess made the same Goal because they've started an online book club. I've always wanted to join a book club but I'm not always the best about finishing books. This works out perfectly because like a normal book club they pick the book to read and at the end of the month they do an online discussion of the book. So if I don't finish the book I just won't participate in the discussion and go on to the next month's book. The first book they picked out is The Interestings

Has anyone read it?

{FOUR} Gwyneth must have read my post about eating healthier this year because I got an email from goop.com her about a Winter Detox. It's all about staying HOT! The detox says to take warm baths, always wear socks, drink lots of hot teas, take saunas, stay near a fireplace, all music to my ears. The detox menu will leave you a little hungry and broke. I mean do I really have to buy bone marrow broth? Gross. And what the hell is spirulina powder? There a few recipes on there that sound good and won't break the bank to make.

I'll give some recipes a try but I won't go all detox crazy!

{FIVE} I think hands down the best thing about January is Tax Returns! These fun papers bring us so little much money.
When I googled "tax return" Obama's came up first, no joke.

What are you going to be spending your hard earned money on?

  9. Restaurant Weeks are the best, DC had two; one in the summer & one in the winter and we always splurged. I'm looking forward to checking out Charlotte's. It's the perfect way to try out new {and pricey} restaurants without completely breaking the bank. And we love SNOB, we celebrated our 6th anniversary there during our anniversary trip a couple years ago.

  14. First of all, I love your new layout! And I looove that planner! I ended up ordering an Erin Condren one but I'm obsessed with the drawings in yours! Ugh, I dread the tax season because we somehow always end owing money.. I don't understand these things enough to know why haha. Happy Friday!

  16. Indy has something like this in the winter and again in the summer. It's awesome to try some pretty pricey steak houses for a discount. I also love that you HAVE to get dessert :)

I love those Brittany Fuson sketches. Can I have all of those outfits and their poufy hair and long eyelashes? Is it weird that I want to look like a cartoon? Hahaha

Thanks so much for linking up!

  17. That online book club sounds like the greatest thing ever - I need to look into it. I've always wanted to join a book club but never been able to commit to one time-wise during the week. So glad you posted about this!
