TGIF!!

by Ally Harding, 9:53 AM
Happy Friday friends! I'm dragging today. I went to dinner last night with these fellow bloggers

It was out first time meeting Caitlyn and we had a blast. I hope to do it again soon! But girlfriend can't do it like she used to.

I wore the Joie Addie D Blouse that's still on final sale at Shopbop.

Theo's headed for a bachelor party this weekend in Asheville so it'll just be me and my girl.

Not to piss anyone off, but I found this article on Childless Couples are Happier Than Those With Kids, pretty interesting. Basically it says if you do have kids to not put your marriage on the back burner and that telling your partner simple expressions of gratitude were keys to keeping a happy, healthy marriage. Having kids is one thing Theo and I have been talking about lately, I mean not for another year, but we've been married for over a year now so obviously the topic is going to come up. There's an older couple that lives across the street from us that never had kids. We're always amazed with how happy they are. Always laughing, going on walks, sitting on their porch talking, just seem very happy and calm with each other. It definitely makes me think about what makes you happier in life, kids or no kids? Don't worry mom if you're reading this, we're still having kids!

If you've watched Bravo lately than you've seen previews for Southern Charm.

It's a new reality show filmed here in Charleston "that goes behind the walls of Charleston's most aristocratic families." This show is causing an uproar and I can't agree more with what everyone is saying. First of all only ONE person on the show is even from Charleston, Thomas Ravenel and he's 48 years old. He was our State Treasurer who was suspended from his duties because of cocaine usage and was put in jail for 10 months. Classy. The other cast are from all over and just happen to live here, probably didn't even know each other before Bravo put them together. I just don't want people to watch the show and think that's really what Charleston is about. I've lived here my whole life and although I'm not from "high society" neither are these people. I love watching reality shows just like the next person but when it's done in Charleston and it isn't accurate it pisses me off. Sorry for my rant but I'm DREADING this show coming out. My only wish is it doesn't get picked up for another season.

On that note, have a great weekend!!

  1. Love that you guys had a blogger meet up! I would love to do that sometime. And I totally hear what you are saying about the reality show. "100 Days of Summer" just premiered on Bravo about summertime in Chicago and it is TERRIBLE. The people are like the worst representations of Chicago and it drives me crazy! Okay tangent done haha have a great weekend!

  2. How fun you all had a meet up! Love the blouse you wore - can't go wrong with Joie ;)
That sucks about the Southern Charm show - I'm sure a lot of reality shows end up that way which is a shame for the cities they represent :(

  4. So funny you mentioned that show - the girl wearing the dress in the promo shot is actually from another show on the Style network from a few years back (Louisville Something or other can't remember the name) was only on for one season - but it does go to show that "reality" is not so real after all - not that we didn't know that already!! Hope you have a great weekend!

  5. So jealous of your blogger meet up! Such a great group of girls! The Bravo show makes me sad! Charleston is such an amazing city with such great people. I miss living there and I hope people don't think that's actually what the city is about. Happy Friday!

  6. I got sucked into watching 100 days of Summer on Bravo and I saw that preview for that Southern Charm and I was thinking what locals must think of it. They always cast the most awful people on those shows right?

  9. Very cute blouse! What is this shop bop? I think I need to look into it. How fun to get together with fellow bloggers! Looks like it was a great time. My mom has a married friend that never had children and they are super happy, too. I've only had Hadley for 3 months, but I do have to say I feel pretty fulfilled. I guess time will tell haha! And I love the shout out to your mom :) They wait a long time for grandkids to spoil, I think!

  10. Definitely keeping your marriage a priority is the key to balancing happiness with kids I bet. And FYI, I will NEVER drink Limoncello again. Have a great weekend!!

  11. Ohhh I am so tuning in for Southern Charm (with a grain of salt of course!) My sister-in-law doesn't want children and although that is not what I want for myself, I know they will be happy with that decision. And when they are off traveling the world I may be more than a little bit envious :)

  12. It is SO funny that you talk about this show. I was JUST watching the previews and thinking about what you thought of this. I'm a total sucker for trashy "reality" shows, but I think I'm going to sit this one out.

P.S. The whole process of "trying" is exhausting and frustrating. Don't want until your ready for a kid now to start. My best advice is whenever you think you're ready, go for it. Sometimes it takes longer than you originally thought. :(

  14. Charleston is one of my favorties cities that I visit every chance I get so I know that Southern Charm will be a train wreck and nothing like real Charleston because that's how most reality tv shows are!!
I find that article so interesting- I think it's hard to know if you'll be happy or not with kids until you do it. It's such a huge sacrifice but I feel like I'm truly more happy now that I have a baby then I was before- ie little stuff that used to stress me out doesn't matter anymore but it also takes a huge toll on your personal life and your marriage and I really don't think it's for everyone. I have a friend who just had a baby and she's miserable- she said she loves her baby but isn't sure she and her husband were really cut out to be parents.

  15. Fun stuff! I want to come to the next blogger dinner!!! I used to teach ballet to Cameron, the blonde in the show, in Anderson when I was in High School. Small world! Have a great weekend!

  16. I don't understand why Bravo can't get better people on their shows... Surely there are better people that would be interested
