Weekend

Ever since Natalie posted about the 21 Day Detox I have been drinking warm water with lemon everyday as soon as I wake up. I'm a big water drinker already so adding lemon to the water was nothing. You just drink a big glass of warm water and lemon before you eat anything. It's supposed to re hydrate your skin and prevent wrinkles, reduce dark eye circles, help with weight control, give you energy, and overall improve the look of your skin.

I know I haven't been doing it for that long but I honestly can tell a difference in my skin. I've said it before but I've always struggled with acne and whether or not this really does anything for acne, I can tell my skin looks clearer. It says this is a 21 day detox but I plan on making this part of my daily routine.

Friday night I babysat and started reading Me Before You.

It took me a while to start reading it, I've had the book for months, but now I can't put it down. It's about a 30 something man named Will who has everything going for him. He's a got a great job, gorgeous girlfriend, and loads of money. His life changes when he gets hit by a car and becomes a quadriplegic. He like anyone else would becomes depressed and decides he wants to end his life by going to a clinic where they euthanize you.  Although his mother wants him to live she also knows he has no quality of life so she agrees to let him do it but to give her 6 months. She hires a young girl named Louisa to basically become his companion and keep him company. I'll let y'all know it is when I finish it.

It's Charleston Restaurant Week so Saturday I went with some girlfriends to SNOB.

I wore the BB Dakota Noland dress that has been sold out for months

I'm not even kidding. It is virtually impossible to find this dress. I got lucky and found it here for half off but they only have 1 medium left now.

Friday night was Diane Von Furstenburg's "Journey of a Dress" Exhibition opening party in L.A. Talk about something I would have killed to go to. It's the DVF brand's 40th anniversary. The exhibition runs till April and is free.

How hot did Gwyneth look?! I can only hope I look that good at 41.

Rachel Zoe also looks awesome after giving birth to baby Kaius December 22

I have super oily hair so I have to wash it daily. I've been trying to wash it every other day and spraying dry shampoo in my hair in between days. I've been using the Suave Dry Shampoo that costs $2.49.

I don't love it nearly as much as I love Batiste but I can't find Batiste for sale anywhere and Suave is significantly cheaper. Dry shampoo may make your hair look fresh but it still feels gross. Does anyone have any tips for going days without washing your hair? Any shampoo your recommend? I hate with a passion washing my hair everyday but with how oily my hair is I have to unless I spray dry shampoo in. Oh, and I've tried to "train" my hair but it doesn't change at all. Still just as oily the next day after washing it.

Since I've been trying to eat healthier I'm always on the look out for yummy healthy meals. A Beautiful Mess blog posted this Warm Brussels Sprouts Salad and I'm dying to make it one night this week.

How good does that look?! I love me some brussels sprouts and luckily my man does too!

Have a great Monday!

  1. My hair gets pretty oily too. But ever since I started working nights, I've loved the routine of only washing my hair every other day. So when I come home the first day going to bed, I'll twist it up in a bun. So when I let it down for the second day, it's not very oily. I'll either wear it down half pulled up, or in a ponytail, depending on how it looks that day. I can't go beyond two days though.

  4. I love Suave's dry shampoo, actually. I heard The Dry Bar's is also great, if you want to splurge. And I usually spray my dry shampoo on the night before, when I'm getting ready for bed. It soaks up the oil overnight and gives me a little more volume the next morning!

  12. Can I go shopping in your closet? Really... You are so fashion forward, but still look like a normal person.

Also, when I was scrolling down and saw Gwyneth, I thought it was you until I saw you were posing with DVF. :)

  16. Seriously every outfit you wear you look adorable! I wish I had hair tips for you but being a brunette I feel like I can get away with it longer because the oil is not as obvious? I know Bumble & Bumble makes dry shampoo for blondes.
