Staples

I find that I tend to wear and use the same things over and over. They're the kind of things that I like to call staples in my life. I thought I'd show you some of my main staples and I'd love to hear what yours are too.

I own two pairs of these shoes, this cognac color and a pair in black, and they're the best flats. They're real leather so when you first wear them they're a little stiff but once you get them worn in they're so comfortable. I've gotten my cognac colored ones soaking wet from the rain and afterwards they dry great. Since they are real leather they tend to show water marks but I love that about them. It shows they've been worn. I've bought a pair from Dillards and found them at TJ Maxx/Marshalls too.

This is seriously my favorite top, ever. I own it in way more colors than I can count. It fits so flattering and looks so cute with skinny jeans and little flats. Here's a tip though, I've never paid full price. I either buy them off ebay, always buy NWT, or on sale. They aren't cheap full price and although I know I'll get wear out of them I just have a hard time paying full price when I know I can buy the exact same thing discounted. They fit on the bigger side so I either get an XS or Small.

These aren't my exact pair, but very similar.

I found my pair at TJ Maxx over a year ago and I wear them to death. They are my throw on, go to jeans that I wear pretty much every day. You know the kind of jeans you wear so much they get baggy so you wash them and wear them right out of the dryer? These are them. They're the perfect length, they hit right above my ankle. They have fake front pockets so there's no bulging. I have a few other pairs of jeans but I always find myself putting these on.

I've been using this skincare line for over a year now and it's wonderful. I still break out but also need something for anti wrinkle. This is it my friends. This whole line is made with alpha hydroxy acid which increases cell turnover to prevent wrinkles but also prevents acne at the same time. It's super cheap too. I buy mine off drugstore.com but I've heard you can find it at Walgreens and Ulta too. I use the Foaming Face Wash morning and night. Then I use the Oil-Free Treatment with 10% Glycolic Acid during the day before I apply my makeup. At night after washing my face I apply the Enhanced Cream before bed. Alpha Hydrox also fades old acne scars and is great for dark spots. Sometimes I'll give my face a break and skip a day and I find my face does even better. The best thing about this line is it's safe for use during pregnancy. Trust me I looked it up. I have no clue what my face is going to do when I get pregnant so knowing I can still use my skincare line relieves my anxiety.

After using drugstore makeup for years I finally decided I was a big girl with a big job and I needed to wear nicer makeup. I went down to the Dior counter and said give me your best foundation with full coverage. The SA gave me this and I haven't looked back since. It has great coverage and blends well. I'm white as a ghost and luckily they sell foundation in my skin tone. This foundation isn't cheap but to me its worth it. Once my current bottle ends I think I might try out Giorgio Armani Luminious Silk to see if it lives up to its hype.

What are some of the staples in your life?

  5. I know everyone is different, but I thought I might give you a little bit of hope. I am a normal SUPER oily girl (hair/skin) who was getting breakouts more than I would have liked even in my mid-twenties. My derm gave me the gel Aczone a few years ago (MIRACLE gel!) that worked wonders, but could not be used during pregnancy. I was terrified when I got pregnant of what my skin would do. I am 20 weeks now and can happily say my skin has been very kind to me! I have had a few moments here and there where it's broken out, but nothing crazy at all. My skin is INSANELY dry now, which is such a shock. So there is hope for oily, acne girls during pregnancy!! :)

  7. Great minds think alike! Totally did a staple wardrobe piece post today as well! I love Joie tops and agree cannot fathom paying full price for them. TJMaxx and Marshalls are my go to for finding high end pieces at such a more affordable price point!

  9. I'm always looking for new foundation, I need to try that Dior. I'm typically a BB cream girl, but I'm over having my imperfections show through on my skin.

I need to check out those flats! I had some Tory Burch ones, but they were SO uncomfortable, I gave them away.

  11. Gah I WANT those jeans, but not in my current size. They'd be a great 'reward' don't you think? My Spanxx leggings are a definite staple (still need to send you the link!).

  13. Love that Joie top! Thanks for the tip of how to get it cheaper! Love those R&B jeans too. A different style than the ones I love but I agree that they are the best jeans! I love my Sam Edelman flats and last spring got 2 striped shirts from Ann Taylor LOFT on clearance that I'm obsessed with!
