Weekend: Cooking Class + Firefly

by Ally Harding, 5:00 AM
First, if you have a Saks Off 5th store near I highly recommend you check out their clearance rack. They are currently offering Buy One Get Two Free. I went on Friday just to kill time and I bought a Rebecca Taylor blouse for clearance price and got a Missoni Scarf and a pair of Chloe sunglasses for FREE!!

They didn't have a lot of good stuff so you really have to rummage, but I felt like I hit the jackpot. I mean the scarf alone was $150 normally and the sunglasses were $129. Craziness!!

Friday night I went to the Southern Season cooking class.

I wore my new Missoni scarf with one of my favorite Daniel Rainn blouses (similar).
I spy a little black dog

The class is taught as a demonstration but they did give us a packet with all of the recipes Chef Laurie made.

Champagne was included in the class. Not to bore you all with each ingredient, but here's an example of how the recipes looked. This recipe was for the dessert and it was ah-mazing. It tasted like chocolate fudge pudding.

Overall I enjoyed the class. It was fun to sit back, drink some champagne and watch a Chef cook some yummy meals. Chef Laurie was great about letting us as questions and gave us some great cooking tips too. I'll definitely do it again.

After the class was over, the actual Southern Season store was closed but they allowed us to walk around for a few extra minutes. I picked up this chocolate bar because of a special someones name on it.

I also picked up a small bottle of the Charleston Bloody Mary Mix I had been dying to try. So good, I loved it! Bloody Mary's are starting to be my new favorite drink.

Saturday we headed to the Firefly Distillery and Irvin House Vineyards for some wine and vodka tasting. If you aren't familar with Firefly they make Sweet Tea Vodka and it's so good with just a splash of water. I'm not sure if it's sold all over the US but check for it at your local liquor store. It's really worth trying.

We went to Firefly with Cait and her husband. It was their first time out there and our like 3rd or 4th but it's always a good time. I mean who can beat vodka and wine tasting?!

One think we discovered as we've been hanging out more often is that our husbands are practically the same person. That really came in handy when us girls wanted to do the wine tasting and the guys just wanted to do this

They also had oysters to eat and a band playing. It turned out to be a great day and luckily wasn't pouring down rain like the Weatherman predicted.

Now it's back to the grind.
What'd you do this weekend?
