May Favorite Things

by Ally Harding, 7:00 AM

I guess I did such a good job guest co hosting the Favorite Things link up last month, Emily asked me to join again! I hope you'll join us too! Just post about anything and everything you're loving right now and what you're looking forward to in May. Then link your post over here or at Beauty and the Greek and that's it!

So I have some exciting news, I got a new job! Don't worry I'm still a nurse I'm just going to be working at a new hospital and in a different area of the hospital than I worked in before. Working night shift was killing me. I couldn't sleep very well during the day and then I'm exhausted all night long. I was also just ready for a change. This is such a great opportunity for me and I feel so fortunate to be offered this awesome job. I start this month and I can't wait! Did I ever show y'all my picture from nursing school? So embarrassing!!

No clue why I look tan, I'm usually a ghost.

I'm super excited because this month is the Charleston Tea Plantation's First Flush Tea Festival. I went last year and had a blast. It's an all day event where you bring chairs and drink and listen to music. This year The Avett Brothers are playing which really surprised me because they're pretty big time I think. If you live in Charleston as well it's a fun family event. Tickets are around $37.

I had this Palmetto Pimento cheese with bacon last weekend and holy crap it's amazing. Palmetto Pimento Cheese is already delicious but the added bacon is out of this world. It's made in Pawleys Island, SC and I know they sell the normal pimento cheese at the Costco here. Not sure if they sell this stuff all over the US but check and see. It's so good on crackers, on a burger, even on celery. Just warning you though, you could seriously eat a whole tub in one sitting, it's that good.

I have to give my mom props, she was right all along about using baby powder in my oily hair. Now that I use Fredric Fekkai Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner I can go without washing my hair everyday. But I still need to put a little something in it to soak up any greasiness around my scalp. I love Batiste but was running out pretty quickly and there isn't anywhere close by that sells it. So I started using baby powder again like I used to back in the day and it's working out great. I just sprinkle some in my scalp before going to bed and wake up with clean looking hair. It really does benefit to use it the night before rather than let all the oils build up over night and have to use double the amount. Not sure how baby powder works in dark hair but I'm sure it's like dry shampoo where it eventually blends in. It's super cheap and lasts for years. I'm so happy to have found a good hair regimen that works. I was getting so sick of having to wash my hair every day.

Mother's Day is May 11 so hopefully Theo and myself will be taking our moms out to brunch to celebrate. Funny story about my mom, I guess I had signed her up awhile back to receive my blog posts through email and she had no idea. For months she said she kept getting these blog emails she just kept deleting them. One day she finally opened the email and saw a picture of my house in the blog post. She said "Oh that's Ally's house! What is that doing here?" And I guess it finally clicked that she was getting my posts everyday but if she had just OPENED the email she would have known it was from me along. My mom isn't too savvy with technology, but she's trying!

My 1 year Blogiversary (I made that word up) is coming up this month so in honor of it I'm going to have a fun giveaway!
Here's a hint:

I know the suspense is killing you but you'll just have to wait, it's a good one too!
