Favorite Beauty Products

I'm really not a beauty guru and pretty much stick to the motto of "if it aint broke, don't fix it." Meaning if I find a product and love it, I'll probably keep buying it, I'm loyal like that. I decided to post about the products I use because maybe it's something that might attract you as well. I've struggled with acne my whole life so that has always been #1 when looking for makeup. I tend to use drugstore brands but I also mix in some high end products as well.

I started using this stuff when I used Acne.org's Acne regimen a few years ago and never stopped. It doesn't leave you greasy or cause break outs. It also has 15 SPF in it so it does protect you from the sun. The Sensitive Skin formula is the one I use and it has the least amount of ingredients in it. I have oily skin but have found that adding a little bit of this lotion to my foundation and mixing it all together before applying to my face, really cuts down on greasiness throughout the day. Who would of thought lotion prevents getting oily? But it does.

I've only been using Acnomel for a few months and already it's a can't live without product. I mentioned I've dealt with acne my whole life and found out a lot of it is caused from dairy consumption. I've cut back on dairy a lot but luckily I found Acnomel and it stops pimples in their tracks. It has Sulfur in it so it's not harsh at all. It's also tinted so it doubles as a concealer as well. If you only get acne around your period this would work great. If you get any pimples at all this stuff is for you. Just cover the acne areas with Acnomel and I can promise you in the next day or so those pimples have gone down significantly. This stuff is my HG and I hope it never gets discontinued!

This is an alpha hydroxy lotion that prevents wrinkles, acne, and gets rid of old acne scars. Alpha Hydroxy Acid increases cell turnover and exfoliates. I personally think everyone in their 20's should start to use a alpha hydroxy acid lotion (also known as glycolic acid) or like a Retin-A product. The earlier you start a good skin care regimen the less skin issues you'll have as you get older. I use this lotion a few times a week at night. I find it works best not used often. Make sure to not use it along with a Clarisonic brush, you'll end up over exfoliating and could damage your skin.

On to make up:

To me this is the best foundation I've found. I even wore it on my wedding day so I can assure it looks great in photos. It's just the right amount of coverage but gives you a flawless finish. I use about 2-3 pumps for my whole face and add in a dab of the Olay lotion. Mix it all together and apply. This foundation has never broke me out and lasts all day. I have no problem paying high price for foundation because if your foundation doesn't look great, it throws the rest of your makeup off.

Powder is another priority in making your makeup look flawless and finished and I've found this powder works the best. It doesn't leave you stark white like a lot of powders do, just sets and seals your foundation and concealer. I can work a whole 12 hour shift, come home and still have my makeup look just as fresh as it did in the morning.

I've used this blush for years as my blush/bronzer. It has so much pigment in it it's able to double as both. I love peach blush on blondes and I've found this to be my favorite shade.

Best mascara ever. It doesn't smudge, it never looks spidery, it doesn't stink which a lot of mascaras do, I could go on and on. I prefer this over the high end mascaras any day.

Hair Products:

Because of this shampoo I can get away with washing my hair every other day. I have oily hair but yet it gets frizzy in the Charleston humidity. This shampoo defrizzes and moisturizes. I use the conditioner also but a lot of times I'll just buy a big bottle of the Costco Conditioner and use that instead. Personally I think it works just as well and is much cheaper.

Between having oily acne prone skin and frizzy hair, I sound like I'm a 13 year old girl only thing missing is the braces! I've used this leave in conditioner for years but just recently started using the Blonde type. Blonde hair is more prone to getting frizzy because of all the highlighting we do to our hair which dries it out. This stuff is perfect even if you don't have frizzy hair. It makes your hair soft and tames flyaways as well.

So that's mainly what I use on a day to day basis. I'm currently looking for a good eyeliner brand so if anyone has any recs send them my way!

  3. I'd like to try that alpha hydroxy cream. I currently am using age revolt's serum but it is a little pricey.(I do love it though!) My mom uses a face wash with alpha hydroxy and she has fab skin in her 50s. Hopefully it is genetic! lol XO

  11. Thank you for telling me about the Acnomel, I've been breaking out around my jawline a lot worse lately. I've even been wondering if dairy has been a reason why... L'Oreal mascaras are the best, love them all!

  12. I love It's a 10, totally transformed my hair care routine (add in the wet brush and my life has been forever changed!). Like you. I am a total product loyalist and like to stick tot he same stuff. If you are ever looking for an overnight miracle pimple zapper I cannot recommend Mario Badescu Drying Lotion enough (my acne has improved a ton as I've aged, but I still get a stubborn few here and there).

  21. Your skin sounds just like my skin or my old skin!! Since I got pregnant and had a baby my skin has totally turned from oily and acne prone to dry and barely breaks out anymore- maybe that will happen for you too! The no break outs part is so nice, the bad news is that dry skin is awful and I swear I look older and more leathery now. I do still have to be really careful about makeup that I use because that will break me out- I need to look into that Dior. I usually use bare minerals but it isn't working great with my dry skin and I don't feel like it gives good coverage.
