Weekend

by Ally Harding, 5:00 AM
Saturday may of been the official first day of Summer, but it's been Summer here in Charleston much longer. It's HOT! The humidity makes it feel like it's 100 degrees and as soon as you walk outside you feel like you're in a sauna. Not the most enjoyable time of the year. Aside from sweating like a pig on a daily basis, I had a great weekend.

Friday night Theo and I went out to dinner at Heart Woodfire Kitchen. It was our first time there and it was delicious.
Warm Pecan Goat Cheese with Pepper Jelly

Flatbread of squash, corn, goat cheese, pesto, and a side of grits. What can I say, we're true Southerners who love our grits.

And I love my wine! ;)

After dinner we headed over to The Terrace and saw Jersey Boys.

It was really good. Personally I didn't think it had enough music in it. They would play snip its of songs but I would of loved to hear the whole song. I'm sure the Broadway show has more music in it. Theo liked it a lot too which if you remember from this post he was dying to see it. Glad it met his expectations!

Saturday we went over to our friend's house and had probably the best margaritas ever. I'm not usually a big fan of margaritas because the mix is always so sugary and I don't really love artificial lime flavor.

This is all that's in the margartia recipe. You take a can of frozen limeade and empty it all into a pitcher. Then fill up the limeade can full of tequila and pour into the pitcher. Add a whole bottle of beer, any beer will do, and stir till all combined. The beer cuts through the sugary-ness and adds extra alcohol too. ;) This is kind of like a Margarona or Coronarita which I also love.

Sheridan is the best coffee liquor but sadly you can only buy it overseas or on cruise ships. It's so smooth and goes down as easy as chocolate milk. We can always count on one or three of Sheridan shots when we go to Heather and Steven's!

Sunday we went to Madra Rua to watch the USA/Portugal game.
Theo sporting his patriotic colors.

Cait and I watching our men cheer on like lunatics.

It was all fun and games till Portugal scored again and left the game at 2-2. We'll see how Thursday goes when USA plays Germany.

Have a good Monday!

  6. Ok you're food from Friday night has me drooling!! Such a fun weekend -and I totally know what you mean about the heat - when it's humid and sticky it's just not fun!! The Broadway show has pretty much the same amount of songs as the movie, but the songs you do know they play the full length versions of! Saw your pic on instagram of the soccer game watching and so wanted to be at that bar with you guys!! :) Happy Monday!

  19. Too bad about Jersey Boys the main reason I love the show so much is the music! That goat cheese and pepper jelly app looks amazing (as do the grits but I have a weakness for them). Looks like a nice weekend!
