I would love to be sitting in that gorgeous blue pool with a drink in my hand! It's been a week. I don't know if it's the full moon but I've had crazy patient's all week! Plus my coworker had her baby and the baby had to be rushed to MUSC for possible emergent surgery due to breathing problems. So please keep my coworker and baby Fiona (obsessed with her name!) in your prayers. She was a miracle baby and is absolutely precious. My heart goes out to the both of them.
~I finally watched the eye opening Food Inc. this week. WOW it's amazing the crap we're eating. I won't go on a spiel about it but if you have Netflix check it out. Warning, you may not want to consume meat ever again or anything non organic after watching it.
~I know everyone has talked about it, but I was really devastated to hear about Robin Williams. Being a nurse and a family member to someone who has depression I know that it's more than just being sad but it still amazes me that celebrities with all their fame have issues. Maybe it's the fame that brings it on, I don't know. I read this blog post about Robin and it brought tears to my eyes. He was truly part of our childhood.
~I had Freekeh when I went to lunch last week at Butcher & Bee and was curious what this quinoa like grain was. I'm not sure how it's pronounced but I imagine it's "Freek-eh" which kind of makes me laugh. Freekeh are green spelt berries that have a smoky flavor. You cook them in boiling water for about 30 minutes. I thought it was really tasty. I found this recipe for Chicken with Kale and Freekeh that has my name all over it.
Superfoods to the max!
~Are you a Cyberchondriac? I know I am. Every little symptom I start to have I Google it and then start to worry. I've always been this way which is kind of why I went into nursing so I'd have an answer for things but then it just makes you worry more because you're more aware. I need to learn to put the phone down! Think you're one too? Check out The 15 Signs You're a Cyberchondriac.
~Fellow Grandma dresser's, we're in for a treat. One of the big Fall trends this year is the Oversized Turtleneck. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Put on skinny jeans or leggings, a sweater and boots and you're out the door.
Here's some other cute ways to wear this new trend. 3 Ways to Tackle the Oversized Turtleneck.
~I can't stop listening to Hozier "Take Me To Church". He's an Irish singer with a deep, soulful voice. He kind of sounds like Elton John at times. Hozier is also a great Pandora station if you like The Lumineers and Passenger. Check Hozier out, I bet you'll be hooked too!
Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteThinking of your co-worker and her new baby...
ReplyDeleteI'm terribly scared to watch those documentaries because I know how terrible most of the stuff is that we consume, but I know it's a must watch! Hope you have a great weekend!
I definitely can't watch Food Inc. I know I'd never want to eat anything again and that just would not work for me. Praying for your coworker and her baby! And I love her name too, so cute!

ReplyDeleteThat documentary is seriously traumatizing... Right? Love that pool pic. I need to be tranported there ASAP!
ReplyDeleteFood Inc was SO good, I think everyone needs to watch it. And just stop with the oversized turtleneck-I've been lusting for fall all week, bring on the pumpkin and cozy clothes!

ReplyDeleteIck don't think I can watch Food Inc. but I have a feeling I could guess how bad a lot of our food items are ha. Brie better not be in that documentary is all I gotta say ;) Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh man my mother is a cyberchondriac!! The woman can find a new reason to worry every day! Loving that look for fall but I fear it will look awful on me! Big boobs and lots of shirts don't mix!
ReplyDeleteOver sized turtle necks?! Oh wow.
ReplyDeleteOver sized turtlenecks being "in" is the best news I've heard all week! I could LIVE in that outfit! And I know I need to watch Food Inc but I'm sort of terrified I won't want to eat anything after, haha. Prayers for your coworker and her baby... so scary. Have a great weekend!
