Friday Round Up

by Ally- Life as I know it, 5:00 AM

Looking forward to my 6 day weekend! It's been a long week but it's all worth it when you get the time off. Nothing really planned just trying to avoid the heat. I can't wait for cooler temps and this picture makes me wish for Fall even more!

~The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken over social media and I think it's great that celebrities are now participating because after all they're the ones with the big bucks. It's pretty funny seeing people pour ice on themselves but the funniest are the screw ups. Some of them look so painful!!

~Do you photoshop your pictures? I mean we all use the filters on Instagram and that's like photoshopping right? One fashion blogger is coming clean about editing her pictures. I'm talking inches removed from her waist, zits taken off, and flattening out her stomach. I can't blame the girl, we all edit our pictures one way or another.

~Before you throw that old pair of jeans into the trash, take them into Madewell and they'll donate them to be turned into housing insulation for those in need. And you'll get $20 off a pair of jeans! It's a win win!

~I have a secret, I have of a bunion (EWW!) and it's a pain in the a$$ finding shoes that don't irritate it or make it worse. Luckily The Budget Fashionista did some searching and found 5 pairs of shoes that are bunion friendly. I love these Yosi Samra flats. I'll pay any price for a shoe that doesn't kill my feet!

~I've been trying to buy more organic foods but man is it expensive. Just the other day I spent $5 for 2 organic avocados and I used to buy 6 avocados for $6 at Costco. There's a reason they call Whole Foods "Whole pay check" because that's where it goes. With that said, I really don't have a problem paying more for organic because I know the benefits are worth it in the long run. Foodbabe, one of my major girl crushes, put together over 75 tips on how to eat organic on a budget. Frozen organic vegetables are always cheaper than fresh and are just as nutritious, plus they don't rot after a few days. Also keep fresh organic citrus fruits in the fridge, they'll last 1-2 weeks longer. Earth fare has Tomato Bank and for every 100 points you gain you $1 in Earth fare Credit. I went there the other day and didn't realize I had $5 to spend on anything in the store.

Have a good weekend!

  9. Organic is super expensive, I only go into Whole Foods for like 3 things and get the heck out before I spend too much. That's cool about Madewell and the jeans! See you for brunch this weekend!! Also I'm so jealous of your 6 days off!
