I had this Garden Rice Salad while in Wrightsville Beach, NC and searched high and low for the recipe online. I found it and made it for dinner on Sunday. It's a light crisp salad with long grain and wild rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, peanuts and Greek yogurt. It doesn't have too much flavor on it's own so make sure to heavily salt and pepper it. It lasts well in the refrigerator so I've been eating it all week.
I've recently started drinking warm water with lemons and cayenne pepper each morning. I know what you're thinking, spiciness first thing in the morning?! It's a detox for your liver, it eliminates toxins, and keeps your digestive system clean. The cayenne increases your body temperature which gets your metabolism going. I drink this warm water as soon as I wake up and right before I eat breakfast. You only need a dash of cayenne. I made the mistake of going to town with the cayenne and I about puked, so add it with caution! You can read more about the benefits of warm water with lemon and cayenne pepper here.

I picked up these Gladiolus at Costco on Saturday and am amazed at how fast they grew! My mom had some in her house and I had been wanting to get some for mine. I love how tall and bright they are. They really fill the room. They had them for $10.
One of the perks of my new job is having a co worker who makes her own butter! She gets the milk from the Happy Cow Creamery here in SC. She also gave me a Butter Bell to keep it in. The Butter Bell is so odd to me because you leave it sitting out on your counter top until you eat it all. There's no refrigeration needed. Over time the butter gets even creamer and even more delicious. There's water in the bottom of the jar to seal the butter and to keep it fresh. This concept is so new to me but Theo and I are really enjoying fresh butter every morning.
Dresses that you can wear for any occasion are my favorite and I love how this dress looks casual but is 100% silk so you can also dress it up. It's on major sale right now too!
Charlie Jade Silk Crepe de Chine Jumpsuit
I really want to get in on the jumpsuit trend but I'm almost 5'9 so finding one long enough is going to be a problem. I really like this Charlie Jade version and how it sits at your ankles rather than to the floor. Plus this cobalt blue color is stunning.

I add lemon to my water, but haven't ever tried adding cayenne, although I've heard it does great things for your body! And I'm always tempted to buy jumpsuits -- that one is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are beautiful and I love that you have homemade butter. YUM!
ReplyDeleteMinus the celery that salad is amazing!! I've done the warm water with lemon, but never thought to add in cayenne - need to start doing that more!!
ReplyDeleteLove that jumper and need those flowers-love how tall and bright they are! I did the lemon water and cayenne pepper for awhile...then got lazy about it. I need to start it up again.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers! I'd love to start keeping fresh flowers in the house to perk it up. I've never heard of adding cayenne pepper to lemon water, but I know that it's good to drink a glass first thing when you wake up. I'll have to give it a try. The garden rice salad looks yummy too!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Le Creuset butter dish like that, but I never really understood it and ultimately just got a regular butter dish that we leave on the counter (I can't stand cold, hard butter)...now I use the bottom part of the Le Creuset as a candy dish, haha! Maybe homemade butter is the key...
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are gorgeous and I'm loving that blue jumpsuit!
ReplyDeletei've heard about this lemon/cayenne thing before and i need to try!! glad your first pepper experience didn't turn you completely off :)

I need to start drinking the lemon/cayenne water in the morning. Sometimes when I drink detox tea's though they make me feel like crap because my body is getting out all of the toxins... does this do that, too?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorge and I'm loving that blue jumpsuit!!
ReplyDeleteHomemade butter is the best! The flowers look great in your kitchen.
