Weekly Obsessions: Beautycounter

by Ally- Life as I know it, 5:00 AM
My current skin care routine was working great for my oily acne prone skin but it was drying me out like crazy. I felt like I got rid of one problem and started a new one. I decided to look into more natural skincare lines to see if it makes a difference. Plus we're putting so many chemicals on our face I knew I wanted to get away from that. I remembered reading about Beautycounter on Ashley's blog so I started to do some research. I read tons of reviews and surprisingly, not a single bad one. Anyone who has ever looked into skincare or makeup knows that there's always some bad reviews. It doesn't seem possible for every single person who tries something to love it. But it made sense that Beautycounter didn't have any bad reviews. They use all safe ingredients and they list every single ingredient they use. Most companies will just say "fragrance" and you have no idea what that fragrance comes from. The US only has 11 ingredients that are not allowed to be in skin care and cosmetics and Europe has over 1300. Beautycounter went above that and doesn't allow 1500 ingredients that are known to cause irritation or be a carcinogen in their products. So you're left with minimal ingredients that are gentle on your skin. I contacted a consultant about trying Beautycounter and she sent me samples of The Essentials Collection.

This cleanser was different from what I was using because it didn't leave me with a tight, dry face. It feels like you're washing your face with silky lotion. It did a great job of removing my makeup as well. You use this day and night.

This is to be used at night 2-3 times a week in place of the cream cleanser. I liked having an exfoliator in the mix to get rid of dead skin cells and rejuvenate your skin. This reminded me of the cream cleanser with added jojoba beads to exfoliate.

I love these creams and actually look forward to putting them on every day and night. The Day Cream doesn't make me greasy and I love how it makes my skin look dewy underneath make up. The Night Cream is thicker and leaves my skin so soft. I really feel like I'm putting on some high end luxurious lotion.

I have to admit, I've never used an eye cream in my life. So when I got the sample I figured I wouldn't even need it. I decided to give it a try and loved how it felt going on under my eyes. I usually wake up with puffy eyes from allergies and sleeping on my stomach and this eye cream totally prevented it. I've started to really look forward to applying this and the Night Cream before going to bed.

I'm also very new to face oils but know that people have great results with them. Beautycounter has 3 face oils all for different types of skin. #1 is for sensitive or irritated skin. #2 is for dry, tired, or any skin type. #3 is for combination skin and acne prone skin. I was sent #3 as a sample because of my oily, acne prone skin. You mix 2 drops of the oil with one pump of Day or Night Cream and apply to your face. I loved how the oil smelled, so fresh and clean, and loved how it looked with makeup. It really is true that applying oils to your face helps with any type of skin, even oily.

After using these products I feel like my skin is turning normal. I've had zero breakouts so far and the dry patches I had going on are almost all gone. I used to be so worried about putting lotion and oils on my already oily face but I've realized that's what my face needs. I'm so happy to have found a natural skincare line that isn't too expensive and works. It's also safe to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

You can contact Reagan at reaganhhowell@gmail.com if you'd like to give Beautycounter a try! I can assure you, you'll be happy!

  5. Aren’t they amazing?? I use the cream cleanser and exfoliator now and love both. Once my current face cream runs out I’m ordering the moisturizers. They leave your face so smooth!

  11. I've been on a huge skincare hunt and I think you may have just sold me. I've been moving into the all natural category and these sound better than anything I've ever found. I may need to email that girl for some samples. We have the same skin (well now mine is dry from pregnancy) but if you've had luck with it then I'm even more intrigued.
