5 on Friday

by Ally- Life as I know it, 5:00 AM
5 on Friday recently started up again so today I'm linking up! 5 on Friday is pretty much responsible for me discovering all my blog reads. It was always one of my favorite link ups so I'm happy it's back!

{ONE}

I've finally found a candle that smells in my house. I know that sounds crazy but I own so many candles and they never smell! Don't get me wrong they smell good or I wouldn't buy them, just when lit the scent doesn't roam. I found a Ribbonwick Candle at TJ Maxx and decided to try it out. It smells amazing and you can smell it all throughout my house. I even smell it when I'm walking past it and it isn't lit. The scent I own is Cinnamon Ginger which sounds like an odd combo but it smells like you're baking Pumpkin Bread 24/7. Look for these at TJ Maxx/Marshalls or you can buy them online here

Pixie started up her agility classes again and she's doing so well! I love it because it's become she and Theo's thing they do together. And Theo is pretty competitive so he loves it. We go through Low Country Dog Agility for anyone who is interested in getting their dog involved. She's just taking classes now but hopefully she'll do some trials in the future.

Love her pathetic face.

Now that it's fall and the weather is a tad cooler, I've busted out my daily uniform. The Joie Ashlee top, a pair of skinny jeans, and my Lucky Brand Emmie flats

I literally own enough Ashlee tops to wear a different one every day of the week, it's pretty pathetic. What can I say, when I find something I love, I want it in every color!

 They're just so easy to throw on and be out the door in seconds. Although I own a lot, there's a few more I'd like to add to my collection.

I finally finished, Big Little Lies, which was pretty good by the way, and downloaded my first Madame Chic book, Lessons from Madame Chic. The author lived with a Parisian family as a foreign exchange student and was intrigued with how different they lived their lives. She also has a blog called The Daily ConnoisseurI've always been interested in how Europeans live so I couldn't wait to start reading.

{FIVE}

I've got to talk about it because it's what's been on mind lately. Ebola scares the SH*T out of me. I've been keeping up with it pretty closely but it really amazes me that unless you work in healthcare or take the time to educate yourself, most people don't know much about it. I was talking to Theo the other day about it and I had to explain to him what a big deal this is, he just wasn't aware. There's been so many flaws in the system so far, with the Texas nurse taking a commercial flight, to the nurses even getting Ebola, I just hope and pray they're able to contain the people who do have it. If you're interested in getting daily updates, get theSkimm sent to your email. Trust me I try to stay away from reading the news as much as I can, I like to live in my safe ignorant bubble, but Ebola has definitely gotten my attention.

On that depressing note, have a great weekend!

  1. Oh I think I need to get one of those Joie Ashlee tops. What size do you wear? Pixie is too cute!! I wasn't that scared of Ebola but now they're bringing it to Maryland!! I feel confident though that NIH knows what they're doing...

  4. Haha love your Ashlee tops! So cute and I love that you have so many! And I'm right there with you on the Ebola thing. I have a friend that lives in Dallas and she had no idea how serious ebola was or how high the mortality rate was. So scary!!! Happy Friday!

  6. Those tops look amazing! I'm trying to find regular clothes that are slightly longer in the front to double as maternity wear. I wore a J. Crew shirt to one of G's work functions last night, then got home and realized it was hiked half way up my belly....womp womp.

    Bath and Body Works has the smelliest (in a good way) candles. To me, Yankee is so expensive, and you can't smell them. Love a good bargain at T.J. Maxx!

  7. I can see why you have that top in so many colors it looks amazing on you!! I don't normally go for candles - but if it makes the house smell good I'm for it!! Hope you have a great weekend!!

  8. Love the striped Ashlee tops - and yes you love some Joie I see but they look so comfy! Ebola is no joke... and it just keeps getting worse. I'd be freaking out too if I worked in health care, but you're right that we all need to be educated regardless. Have a great time in ATL and give Todd my best ;)

  9. Yes I'm terrified of Ebola too and get so angry at all the people saying it's nothing to worry about. It could change our world as we know it. Just love how the government is doing NOTHING! Love those tops! Perfect uniform!

  10. I have to try out those tops. I'm desperate for some soft shirts that I can just throw on. Do they run large or more true to size? I'm doing the uneducated thing and purposely staying in the dark about Ebola because I will get even more scared to fly if I think about picking it up on the airplane! I hope that they contain it quickly!

  11. I was trying to explain to Nick last night about how Ebola is going to keep getting spread. He didn't seem to concerned. WTF?! Those tops are suuuuuuper cute! Love the Pixie does agility lessons.

  13. I'm with you on the Ebola stuff...it scares the shit out of me too. Mostly it's just a reality check that makes me sad and scared for my kids and their future and the things they may face. I really hope they get this in check because it is very scary. I feel awful for those that have it...I feel like it's a life sentence...thank God somehow some that have gotten it have been cured. At least there is that hope...but there is still so much unknown about it, and with no vaccine...I just don't know what to think....in LIGHTER news, LOVE that Joie top and I don't blame you for having so many!

  14. I've been going back and forth from being freaked out about Ebola to thinking it's not a big deal. I'm not sure if it's because of where we live but they make every little thing that happens into a huge deal, to the point where it does seem a little ridiculous and over the top. So sad about the healthcare nurses that contracted it- hopefully they'll recover quickly! Anyway... I think I need that top- your collection may have convinced me :) haha
