DINNER
I feel like when you live near the ocean you always have a couple bags of frozen shrimp in your freezer. We go over to my parent's house every Sunday night for dinner and a few weeks ago my mom decided to pull out some of the shrimp she had and make an old family recipe for Shrimp Pie. My great grandmother used to make this pie and then my grandmother made it and now my mom makes it. It was considered a poor man's pie in the 1930's. This pie is rich and delicious and a great comfort food.
{Shrimp Pie}
Ingredients
2 cups day-old bread, cut into pieces (about 3 large slices)
1 cup milk
2 cups peeled, cooked shrimp
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon chopped celery
2 tablespoons Sherry
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
Pinch of nutmeg
Recipe
Soak bread in milk.
Mix in rest of ingredients.
Place in a buttered baking dish and bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
Enjoy!
MOVIE
If you haven't seen Gone Girl yet, GO!! I could go on and on and on about it, it was SO good. The acting is awesome, I loved the girl they picked to play Amy. Even Ben Affleck, who's acting can sometimes be eh, did a great job. I read the book so long ago that I kind of wished I had reread it before I saw the movie but after watching the movie I didn't think I needed to. Theo didn't read the book and loved it too. It follows the book perfectly which was great and even the end, those who read the book know what I'm talking it, just kind of made more sense after watching it acted out. I really want to see it again so anyone in Charleston who wants to see it let me know! I highly recommend seeing it at Cinebarre so you can drink too, drinking always makes movies better, right?!
ohh im soo glad you liked gone girl! i cant wait to see it next week! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
