Weekend

by Ally- Life as I know it, 7:00 AM
We had a HOT weekend. It was pretty much 85 degrees everyday so may as well have been summer. Friday night we went with some friends to the Boone Hall Fright Night. They have a total of 4 attractions, but when we walked up and it was insanely crowded with 15 year olds we decided to just do the hayride and call it a night. It was fun, not really scary but I enjoyed it.

Saturday, Theo, Pixie and I headed to the Farmer's Market. I picked up a loaf of Honey Wheat bread from Rococo bakery. I've been buying Ezekiel Bread so much lately I forget how yummy fresh bread is. The weather was great but it was just so freakin hot.

Fellow Pumpkin lovers, you have to try these chips. I got this bag from Earth Fare but I'm sure they sell them at The Teeter and Publix. They're more of a dessert rather than normal salty chips. I'll probably be sick of them before the bag is empty but they're nice treat.

A few girlfriends of mine and I decided to start doing a monthly Wine and Cheese get together at each others house. Our first party was on Saturday. Everyone brings a bottle of wine, cheese, and crackers or something to eat with the cheese. I brought some Manchego cheese, crackers, and fig preserves. The guy at Earth Fare recommend a Spanish wine to drink with the cheese since Manchego is a Spanish cheese. We drank A LOT of wine but sadly never opened up my bottle! The Manchego cheese with the fig preserves was amazing. The cheese has such a great salty flavor and adding the sweetness of the preserves went so well together. If you have a party to go to or want to make a cheese platter, buy some Manchego cheese and fig preserves and you'll have some happy guests.

Sunday was my mom's birthday so I had some of my family over for homemade pizzas and cake.

We made a Caramelized Onion, Sausage, and Gorgonzola Pizza which was my favorite.

and our typical recipe with sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms.

They were all so good. We used the 5 Grain pizza dough from Publix to make our crust. We also served the Sweet Kale Salad Mix. I buy this from Costco and it's such an easy salad to throw together that everyone loves. It has brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, nuts, seeds, cranberries and comes with a Poppyseed dressing. You can get a big bag of it from Costco but they also sell smaller bags at Harris Teeter.

Now I'm back to the grind! How was your weekend?
