Friday Round Up

Is anyone else super confused about what day it is? It's Friday yet it feels like Monday and last night felt like Sunday. Having Holidays in the middle of the week really screw me up. But it's all over with and it's time for the Christmas decorations and the tree to come down, which makes me really sad. What really made me sad was when Theo said the next Holiday off from work is Memorial Day! Ugh don't remind me!

~How was everyone's New Year's Eve? We went to The Alley, a bowling alley/bar that has a big party every year. It was our first year going and our last. I realized after being there for what felt like hours, but was more like 30 minutes, I prefer to be in my pj's on the couch eating some steak and lobster like we've done the past few years. I volunteered to be the DD so I kind of went into it knowing I wasn't going to have the best time. I was really excited about wearing my Loft Lace Dress I got for a steal back on Black Friday. It's currently sold out online but you can check to see if they still have it in stock at your local store. It's now 60% off too!!

~I was totally caught off guard when I heard Giada and her husband Todd split up! I love watching her shows and have since before she even had her daughter. I have to admit, I always thought her husband seemed really boring with zero personality whenever he was on the show and that she could do better. I mean she's gorgeous and he's just average in my opinion. I feel bad for her but I really feel bad for her daughter Jade. Having divorced parents myself I know it isn't easy although her daughter will grow up much more privileged than I did so I'm sure she'll be just fine!

~After Theo's cousin kept raving about how funny Parks and Recreation was we decided to watch a few episodes the other night. Ever since The Affair ended we were looking for a new show to watch. I realize I'm probably the last person in the world to watch it especially since the show is ending but it's really funny. Although I don't think it's going to keep my attention enough to want to watch it daily. So I need some new TV show recs. Specifically Netflix ones. What are some of your favorite shows? Give me some good ones!

~If you're looking for a tasty dessert to make, look no further. I made this No Bake Oreo Dessert for New Year's Day dinner and it was pretty freaking amazing. You can use any type of Oreo you choose but I'm a peanut butter/chocoholic, I blame that on my mom she ate tons of Reese's when she was pregnant with me, so I chose Peanut Butter Oreos. Even though it's no bake, it's still a bit time consuming but you can make it a day in advance and it'll last in the fridge.

~My skin has gone insane and looks like I'm in middle school again. I'm a strong believer in you are what you eat, and I've eaten so much crap lately I know that's why. Your gut is the gateway to your health so I'm on a mission to fix mine. I've been reading a lot about a Leaky Gut and no doubt that's my problem. I have three of the top symptoms, acne, anxiety, and seasonal allergies. I already know dairy causes my acne but gluten may also be the culprit. Obviously I'm not strong enough to go gluten free, girl loves her pizza which is a double no no, but I am going to try pass on it more often. I also ordered a bottle of Probiotics to start taking daily. Since I don't eat yogurt or Kefir I'm really not getting any healthy bacteria into my diet. Fingers crossed it helps!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Ohh your Loft dress was so pretty! I think I want to break out the lace for NYE next year! And I couldn't believe about Giada either! I didn't hear the rumors about her and John Mayer a few years ago but noticed they're back in full force now that they announced their divorce. I think I need to order a bottle of Probiotics too! Let me know how they work out for you!

  2. Yesterday totally felt like a Sunday to me. We took all our Christmas stuff down and cleaned...then of course watched netflix! We just recently finished all the House of Cards seasons (amazing), so Zack decided we should start watching The Walking Dead. It's better than I thought it would be, but it totally stresses me out...just too intense and suspenseful. Of course now Zack is hooked on it!

  3. That no-bake dessert looks amazing!!! I am definitely pinning that one. I absolutely LOVE the Alley and saw they were having a big party! We ended up going to Folly for the flip flop drop and fireworks, and promptly left at 12:15... #oldpeopleprobz As for Netflix shows, my husband recently started watching Parks & Rec, and I think I'm like you, I'll catch a few minutes here or there, but never a ton. I'm loving Parenthood right now, and not sure if you're into this kind of comedy, but Archer is seriously one of the craziest shows on tv.

  6. So sad about Giada for sure! My mom always said that's the one woman she'd approve of my dad marrying if she dies though so maybe she'll be my mom hah? Ridiculous but funny. LOVED that dessert and I'm not a huge sweets person! I read some really interesting articles on dairy; I'll send you the links!

  9. I really loved not doing anything on New Years Eve. I was so happy to be at home in my jammies and not dealing with shenanigans. Your oreo dessert looks amazing. And I'm with you on my skin. It's a disaster right now. I am so embarrassed! Hope you have a great weekend! xo

  11. I'm not a huge NYE person either - we've never stayed in because we always get suckered into doing stuff but I want to every year! We used to have fondue growing up and I'd love to start that tradition next/this year! Love your dress, though :) Happy 2015!

  12. That oreo dessert- Y U M !! I used to love loud and packed NYE parties, but I now equally love a low key night in, cooking and watch the ball drop from home.

  13. We decided we want to just stay in on NYE next year, aside from one really amazing party our first year together, the best New Year's we've had was the one we spent on the couch...and, if you add in lobster, it's a no brainer! That dessert sounds DEE-LISH and if you haven't already watched Dexter--do it! I think we were one of the last people to get hooked, but we watched the entire 7 seasons in just a few months! It's like he became a part of the family and I miss him now that the show is over, haha!
