The one annoying thing about owning your own home is not being able to fix it the way you want it to be right that moment. If it was up to me I'd go on a major shopping spree and have the house decorated in a week but since money doesn't always allow that, certain rooms get decorated quickly and others get neglected. Our bedroom was the neglected one. So you can imagine my surprise after 2.5 years of living in our home Theo told me we can finally fix up our bedroom. Don't get me wrong our bedroom was livable but nothing matched and we only had one chester drawer which meant I was living out my closet. I know first world problems right? We went searching for a new bedroom set and had it picked out and a new mattress in less than an hour. They were finally all delivered last week and over the weekend we got the room decorated.
I never knew how bad the old mattress we were using was until we got our new Serta iComfort Savant Mattress. What a difference a nice new mattress makes and this one is so comfy, not too soft, not too firm. I love the bedroom set we chose from Rooms To Go. It has a rustic look to it and I can't even tell you how nice it is sleeping in a king size bed now. We got the duvet cover and shams from Pottery Barn (thanks Cait for the recommendation!) and the sheets from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Theo picked out the bird picture one day at Kirkland's and I was kind of iffy on it. I had more of an abstract picture in my mind but we tried it on the wall and both kind of liked it. Plus it's nice to have some color in the room since obviously I like white, a lot. The lamps on the bedside tables are from TJ Maxx are so are the little knick knacks on the tables. I found the sheepskin rugs at Homegoods and if I could have them all over my house I would. I just love those rugs.
The bedroom set came with a mirror but we decided not to get it and find one later one. I ended up finding this one from Marshall's for $25 and I really think it looks great with the grey furniture.
We talked about painting the walls one day but who knows if we'll ever get around to it. For now the color works. We would also like to get a rug to put under the bed but that will just have to come with time. The one thing I am on the search for is a storage bench to put at the end of our bed to store our pillows at night. I love this one from Pottery Barn but not the price.
If anyone finds a tufted storage bench that's at least 50 inches long let me know!
I'd also kill for a Jonathan Adler Letter Pillow for our bed but I'm pretty sure Theo would kick me out of the house if I paid that much for a pillow.

It's so nice sleeping in a big bed now, let me just say King Size beds are great for your marriage, and Pixie really loves it too.
I love your big dresser - it has so much storage!! I think that bench at the foot of your bed would be great - we have one and use it for so much!! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteLove your room. I am with you on not being able to do everything you want when you have a house! I have so many plans and ideas and we have been in our home for almost 6 years! It is even tougher getting those things accomplished with kids though. I dream of winning some money on the lottery and creating my dream kitchen, getting new floors downstairs and just perfecting all the trim and paint, etc. xo
ReplyDeleteY'alls bedroom looks great! I scooped up the Jonathan Adler pillow during one of Bloomingdales sales when it was an extra markdown off of the sale price, so keep an eye on it and it'll go down!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks perfect all together- I really love the colors in the picture you chose for above the bed!
ReplyDeleteyour room looks great!! i bet pixie is happy you have a king size bed too :) xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your new bedroom set. A king sized bed was the first major furniture purchase we made together, I agree it is good for your marriage! We spend like 1/3 of our lives in bed right? So a big comfy one is totally worth the purchase.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your king bed. Our bedroom is too small to fit a king now, but it's the first thing on our list when we buy a house.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so fantastic!! I love the print about your bed and the mirror really compliments the room well.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your bedroom set!! Gorgeous! And the bird canvas is the perfect touch!

ReplyDeleteThat set is absolutely beautiful!!! I 100% agree about the king mattress. The minute we get a house that will be my first purchase for sure!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks amazing. Love the furniture.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how it came out!! That furniture is so gorgeous and I love the white bedding! Super jealous of your king bed... I'm trying to talk Steve into getting one so maybe Theo can tell him how awesome it is and help out my cause? haha
