Thoughts for Friday

Didn't make this in time for Thoughts for Thursday so Friday it is!

~My job is kicking my butt, seriously. We're short staffed which I've talked about before so the days are more stressful but Wednesday night took the cake. Got there at 9am, left at 3am! That's 18 hours! Trust me this isn't the norm but lately it has been for me. Two weeks ago the same thing happened. I really hate to complain because I know I work in healthcare and with my job it's kind of an endless shift. I work in the recovery room so whoever is the late person that day has to stay till the last surgery comes out. TGIF is all I can say!!

~I made the best cupcakes this week, Black and White Brownie Cupcakes. Theo's aunt made them on Saturday night but I loved them so much I made them for us on Sunday. I don't think I'll ever make another cupcake again, these are so good. I don't have an actual picture because I inhaled them too fast. They're so easy to make too. This picture has me drooling!

~I'm such a slacker when it comes to finishing books on my Kindle. Something about thinking you're farther along and only seeing that 30% read drives me nuts! So I tend to take longer to read books on my Kindle versus an actual book. I think it's the fact I can't see how much I have left because it's not a physical book. I'm working on finishing Girl On The Train but I just know if I had it as an actual book I would have it finished already.

~I'm so overdue for an oil change I feel like every time I drive I'm a ticking time bomb. All I can think about is Kristin Cavallari's car smoking on the side of the road on Laguna Beach because she never got her oil changed. The logical answer is to go get my oil changed but then I have to sit there and then the technician will come out and tell me 5000 things wrong with my car that's going to cost a fortune. I can be such a procrastinator. Anyone else drag their feet on getting their oil changes too? I swear this weekend it will get changed!

~Anyone wondering where our weekly Paleo dinners went? Yah me too. We've been so slack these past few weeks and practically been eating everything anti-Paleo. With good reason though, I'll share later!

~I don't know if I've ever shared this fun fact about myself before but I'm a major extremist. I know the use the term wrong but what I mean is, I have a slight headache, it's a brain tumor. Pain in my leg, blood clot. Theo complained of a pain on his left side for a few days, not even the side your appendix is on ok, and I just knew it was his appendix going to burst and he would need emergent surgery. You know what it was, a pulled muscle. Any little thing wrong, I automatically assume the worst. It's bad you guys. Hypochondriac to the max. I read somewhere people like me have Defensive Pessimism and it's actually a form of protection against worry and anxiety. Basically if you think of the worst possible situation, like I do, you're able to focus on working the issue out in a positive way. I know it's my defense mechanism because although I always think the worst, deep down I know it will never be that bad but if it is, I was prepared. Anyone else do this?

That's all for now. Have a great weekend!

  1. Ohh those brownie cupcakes look amazing!!! And that KC gif made me laugh! I still say dunzo randomly. My friend never got her oil changed in her car on time and she ended up killing it and needing a new engine or something crazy like that. And her car was only a few years old! After that I always got my oil changed on time haha! Happy Friday!

  2. I'm sorry your job has you working and on your feet for such long hours! I do hope you get overtime for it (that would be the silver lining right?). I used to be really bad about finishing books on my iPad but then I took it on a bus ride to NYC and had no other option but to read on; and ever since I've had no issues. My husband is a stickler for changing his oil like every 3,000 miles and I push it to the max too...I find the entire process annoying and overwhelming because car people always seem to talk down to me and try to upsell me while I'm there! Have a great weekend!

  7. bahahahahahah oh dunzo......the best word ever. I am crazy with my car. That ticking time bomb is for real in my eyes. The light for my oil came on and all I could think of was blowing up on the highway and then Mark yelling at me and then having to replace like my entire engine so when it came on I literally pulled it into the first service center and made them do it......I have issues.

  8. I get so caught up in the percentages on the kindle app too, but I feel like once I get past 50% the book is practically over and I'm sure I don't actually read it faster, but it feels like it does if that makes any kind of sense. Those cupcakes look AMAZING- I'm definitely going to try them out! That Laguna Beach gif is hilarious! I hope you catch up on some rest and relaxation over the next few days!

  9. I'm glad someone is the same as me. I seriously FREAK myself out about things. I loose sleep, and am such a worry wort. I take things that are physically wrong to the next level. Not so much with me, but my kids. It's the worst feeling.
Hope things go better for you at work soon and can't wait to hear why you're breaking the paleo. Have a good weekend!
