Weekend

It's this time of year I get jealous of people still in school. It's Spring Break this week and even though I don't get a week off I still get excited about it. I think it's because my mom is a teacher and I know she's happy to be off. Plus it means warmer weather is coming. It was freezing this weekend. Way too cold for being almost April but that's Charleston for you. 80's one day, 60's the next. How was your weekend? We had a great one and I have an extended weekend because I have today off too!

Friday I came home from work to burgers and beans. A whole lotta beans with a side of burger. Total bean feign.

We ended the night watching Bloodline. Still really liking that show.

Saturday Theo was gone all day doing what he loves: golfing so I went off to do what I love: shop. Loft had 40% off everything so I headed there to find a few shirts to wear in the summer. I came across this basic top that I ended up buying in 3 colors. It's loose but still flattering and would work with shorts or jeans. You can also dress it up depending on what jewelry you wear too. I just love basic tops like this. Plus it was $12 a piece, you can't beat that.

I also found an Easter dress that I'm still kind of iffy on since it isn't your typical bright, pastel, covered in flowers type Easter dress. I figured I'll wear it a lot beyond church too so that's kind of more why I got it.

I woke up Sunday craving some Cinnamon Toast so I did a Google search of the best Cinnamon Toast recipe and came across Pioneer Woman's recipe. You basically mix the butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract together before putting it on the toast then spread it on and bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Then put it on broiler and watch it closely till it starts bubbling. It was so good and reminded me of French Toast. I'll definitely be making it this way more often.

I saw Cinderella with my momma that afternoon and it was so cute. We both really loved it.

We went over to my parents' house for dinner that night and I tried a half ass recipe for banana pudding that was a total fail. I was in a rush to make it so I found an easy recipe for banana pudding but should of known better. The pudding was practically soup and never hardened. By the end of trying to figure out how to tackle the dessert we ended up just drinking it haha. I did add Nutter Butters instead of Nilla Wafers and they were good. Definitely recommend doing that. But note to self: avoid quick pudding recipes and just make it the way you always have.

I wore my Target top I talked about a few weeks ago all weekend. Total repeat offender. Someone asked if the shirt gets wrinkled and that's a big fat Yes but I didn't really care. It's kind of like linen or silk, you can iron it and steam it all you want but as soon as you put your seatbelt on, you're a wrinkled mess.

Have a good Monday!

  4. That cinnamon toast looks awesome!! I will definitely need to make that next weekend. I've definitely tried a Pioneer Woman recipe using the broiler and burned the crap out of it, so I need to redeem myself. Looks like a great shopping weekend, too! I love simple tops that can go with anything! Have a great week.

  7. I found the same thing with the Target top. Mine came out of the dryer super wrinkly and I hate ironing so I foresee this being a problem.
