Week 14 Bumpdate

by Ally- Life as I know it, 5:00 AM
Not sure if it's a food baby or a real baby but either way I'll take it! Still waiting to "pop" though.

How Many Weeks: 14 weeks

Size of Baby: a lemon

Gender: My mom has said from the beginning she thinks it's a boy. I do now too but would be completely surprised if they told us it was a girl. I really don't care either way. We booked our 3D/4D gender ultrasound in a few weeks so we will know then!

Movement: Nothing yet but I also don't know what I'm looking for. I asked a girl at work who's 21 weeks what it feels like and she said she can't describe it, so that helped a lot. I'm not expecting to feel anything till I get to weeks 20 and on anyways.

Sleep: Aside from the 2-3 potty breaks a night my sleep has been better. I've been really tired lately so when my head hits the pillow I'm out in minutes.

Workouts: I might as well get rid of this category because it ain't happening. Work is very labor intensive so the last thing I want to do is workout when I get home. I do walk Pixie often. So between all that I think I'm doing ok.

Maternity Clothes: I bought 2 pairs of Old Navy maternity shorts and I LOVE them. I see myself living in them all summer. I don't really have to wear them yet but if I wear regular shorts they're a lot tighter and just not comfortable. If I wear jeans I have to do the rubber band trick. I'm thinking about ordering a Bella Band, anyone every tried one before?

Weight Gain: I go to the Dr next week so I'm just going to go by their scale. But at my last visit I was up 2 lbs. When I weigh myself at home I don't seem to have gained any weight which doesn't make sense to me. Between my boobs weighing what feels like 5 lbs a piece now to eating more to oh yah there's a baby inside of me, I don't get how I don't weigh a good 10 lbs more. Everyone keeps saying just you wait it'll catch up with you!

Symptoms: ACNE!! My face looks like a war zone. I have zero pregnancy glow unless you count the oil all over my face. Makes me think it's a girl since she's stealing my beauty! Still tired a lot. Growing pains which used to scare me just because I'm not used to them but now I'm realizing they're normal. I had some nausea twice this week out of nowhere and I really thought I was going to throw up. I've never had it that bad before but after I ate I was ok. My back hurts if I'm on my feet a lot at work or sit for too long. Having a weird feeling under my left breast, almost like my ribs or a pulled muscle. Doesn't hurt, just a weird feeling.

Cravings/Aversions: Still only love bagels with cream cheese and grilled cheeses and any and all kinds of dessert. I'm slowing eating protein again but it has to be in something or be crispy fried. My beloved Chick Fil A still sounds gross to me. Something about it being soft fried and not crispy fried?! I don't get it either!

Missing Most: Now that I'm eating more it's hard to find foods I can eat when we go to restaurants. Now it's like "I can't have that because it has blue cheese." or "I can't have that because it has deli meat." The cheese thing is really hard. And I hate being that annoying person always asking the waiter if the cheese is pasteurized, but I do.

Nursery: I've got a lot of ideas but just waiting till we find out the sex and we can start working!

Hubby: He's been so patient with me since I've been so slack around the house. We haven't had a decent cooked meal in months and he hasn't complained at all. He's also been really sweet about me going to bed at 9pm every night and leaving him downstairs by himself. I hate leaving him by himself but girls gotta get her 10 hours of sleep!

Best Part of The Week: Every week I make it to another week is a awesome to me! And I guess I'm officially in the 2nd trimester. Everywhere I read says something different, 12 weeks, 13 weeks, 14 weeks, some even say 16 weeks!

Can't Wait For: My 16 week appointment next Thursday and our gender reveal ultrasound in May!

  1. Aww such a cute little bump! Ugh, the cheese thing is the thing I'm looking forward to the least when I finally get pregnant. I eat a LOT of cheese. On pretty much everything. Can't wait to see if you and your mom are right and you're having a boy!

  3. I'm sorry I couldn't help but crack up about the girl stealing beauty. I am all about the boys. Only one queen in this house and I've seen the way Mark is with my nieces....I might as well just sleep outside (this is all figuratively speaking of course ;-)

  4. Hahaha I had to laugh at the “makes me think it’s a girl since she’s stealing my beauty” comment. Hilarious! Cutest little bump!

  5. Girl don't worry about cheese...pretty much any cheese in the U.S. is pasteurized. I didn't know this either until April told me. If you go to Paris, then start checking into it.
I have the Bella band which I got at target for $17. Worth a try but I can't say I've used it much!
On the movement - I had to be really still at the beginning to feel it around 20 weeks. It feels like a little butterfly flutter.
Woohoo 14 weeks!!! You're def in the second trimester in my book. Celebrate those lil milestones!!

  6. The growing pains in my lower stomach used to/still kinda freak me out but I think I'm coming around the corner and just understanding that it's part of the process.

  8. Love that little bump! So excited for you with the gender ultrasound!! And yes to grilled cheese, I lived on that while prego! You might feel some flutters that sort of feel like really light tickling around 18 weeks, I think that's when mine started. You can't feel them on the outside until a few weeks later though

  9. I felt movement at 16 weeks! It felt like teeny little muscle twinges in my abs...if you feel it while you're still, like laying in bed at night, then I bet that'll be him! xo

  11. You are too cute already!! I know wanting to "pop" seems to take forever but before you know it you'll be there. Being tall though it may not happen for a while! I felt all three of our babies really early (like 10-13 weeks) and initially it felt like tiny bubbles popping and then moved on to more of a butterfly feeling (like riding a roller coaster). It's an amazing feeling when you start getting it regularly and something I also miss when the baby actually comes out! As for the cheese, I was super careful with my first pregnancies but my subsequent OBs for the other two have said that pretty much all cheese sold in the U.S. is pasteurized, especially at restaurants, so not to worry. I gave up Brie for my entire first pregnancy but haven't done that since! However I do avoid deli meat, pregnant or not, now that I understand the reasoning behind not eating it during pregnancy. But each OB will say different things are safe and harmful!

  15. I have eaten SO many carbs while being pregnant..and sweets! I never had a sweet tooth like I do now. I felt my first movement at the end of 16 weeks, I was almost asleep when I felt it. It wasn't until awhile later that I felt more movement, definitely like butterflies! You'll know :) I bought a belly band and used 1-2x because I felt like I could see the buttons of my pants sticking out funny. Maternity jeans and shorts are the best!! Can't wait to find out if its a boy or girl :)
