Weekend

by Ally- Life as I know it, 5:00 AM
Did anyone else watch Bruce Jenner's special on ABC Friday night? WOW, it was shocking. I only caught the last hour so I wish I could have seen the first part because it was so interesting. He's wanted to be a female since he was 5 years old and watching KUWTK I would have never thought that. He seemed so manly to me, at least in the first few seasons. The last few years tabloids had been saying he was turning into a woman but like all tabloids you don't really believe them. I think I need to start believing them more because it was full on true. He showed himself as a woman to Diane Sawyer but isn't going to share it with the world till later. He's going to have show documenting his transformation into a woman on E! over the summer. I can't wait. I don't why I find this stuff so interesting! It really brings up the topic of Nurture vs Nature.

We saw such a good movie on Saturday. The Water Diviner starring Russell Crowe.

It's an Australian movie that I think just got released in the States. In the movie Russell Crowe travels to Turkey in search of his missing three sons who were lost during the Battle of Galipoli in World War I. It was just a great story and it's based off true events but the actual story is fiction. Charleston folks, we saw it at the Terrace.

After the movie, we headed to our favorite pizza spot, EVO, and chowed down. We've eaten there A LOT and have never had a bad pizza. No other place compares either.
No jalapenos for me!

After dinner we went to Madra Rua. They had the patio open and the weather was perfect. I gotta admit, being around drunk people when you can't drink is annoying. There were so many people being loud and acting so stupid, I couldn't stand it. Then they had Citronella candles burning and someone was smoking, I was in pregnant strong sense of smell hell. I couldn't get out of their fast enough and hop in my bed with my Snoogle.

After this weekend I'm now hooked on King of Pops ice cream bars.

I've tried the Banana Pudding flavor and Blueberry Orange Banana and they were both delicious. They're made with all natural ingredients and a lot of them are organic so you don't feel too guilty. I've seen them sold all over Charleston but I bought mine at Harris Teeter.

I picked up two Tummy Sleeves from Motherhood Maternity, only because they were 2 for $25 or 1 for $17, and eww I hate them. I thought I could use them to get me through till summer comes so I can still wear jeans, but no they're horrible. You keep your pants unbuttoned which means your zipper won't stay up so then you're constantly holding up your pants, it's just bad. I'm going to return them and buy some maternity jeans. Problem is I've been hooked on designer jeans all these years but I refuse to pay over $100 for a pair of maternity jeans. I've been searching ebay but no luck. Anyone want to sell me a pair of skinny designer maternity jeans in size 27/28?

I ended the weekend hanging out around my parent's pool and going through all of brother and my old baby clothes. My mom had saved so much stuff and this was only the half of it. She also had tons of smocked dresses hanging up in her closet.

  1. I totally missed the Bruce documentary but I heard it was really good! I couldn't believe the tabloids either although with the long hair I guess it does kinda make sense. I never would have guessed it from watching KUWTK though! That ice cream bar looks amazing! Happy Monday!

  2. I definitely DVR'd the interview and it was fascinating and sad at the same time - anyone that has to live with that sort of hiding, I just feel bad for him! how cute are your baby clothes - that is so great that your mom kept it!!! Hope you have a great Monday! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  3. I watched the Bruce Jenner documentary and was fascinated. Like you, I never would have realized this has been a life struggle for him since childhood. I am recording the ABC special this morning as well!

  4. I just caught up on the Bruce interview last night on demand and wow... I can’t even imagine trying to suppress something like that for so long. It’s refreshing to see how supportive his family is being, especially Kim! Still need to go to EVO- that pizza looks delicious!

  5. Totally agree about the bella bands. I hated feeling like my zipper was always about two seconds from falling down. I did splurge and buy designer jeans with a full panel....I wore them Saturday and they are really comfy (although too big for now, so.....I think it's leggings and dresses for a few more weeks ;)

  6. I kinda want to cuddle with that pillow/snoogle right now! I missed that interview but need to catch up because I heard it was so interesting! Yes please to that pizza!

  7. I had some similar belly bands and even though they did hold my pants up, I just felt hot and constricted by the tight lycra. Target maternity jeans worked! Haha I laughed out loud to the pregnant-heightened-sense-of-smell hell. I live near some farm land and the smell of manure (that NO ONE else seemed to smell) nearly drove me mad!

  8. My advice is invest in one pair of nice maternity jeans. You will wear them a lot - and then you can always sell them on eBay! I bought one pair from Destination Maternity for around $100 and although they were not a name brand I recognized I always favored them over my old navy ones. Loft also has cute maternity stuff.
I watched the Bruce Jenner interview and thought it was fascinating! Realize why his shirt is so loose? It's because he has begun growing breasts. Insane. More power to him though, pretty brave!

  9. I loved the Bruce Jenner interview. I am so happy that he is finally able to share his true self to the world. I hate tabloids because 99% of the stuff is so false and ridiculous. Despite being right this time, I think they should have let Bruce talk about it on his own terms first. He definitely inspired so many people with his story though :)

  10. I loved Bruce's interview, I also find it so fascinating, I remember when I first started seeing headlines about him becoming a woman and I was like yea right, the tabloids are so crazy. Could not believe it when more reputable news sources started saying the same thing! I think those trashy tabloids may have more credibility than we think, because that isn't the first "sensational" news story they've reported on that turned out to be true. Either way, I think it's good he came out the way he did with the Diane Sawyer interview. I hope the media doesn't harass him too much as he makes his transition, it's a brave thing he's doing.

  11. Love King of Pops - chocolate sea salt is my fave! We watched the Bruce Jenner special during the bachelorette party I was at this weekend. Haha! In our defense it was raining out and we were drinking daiquiris while watching! :)

  12. I still can't get over the Bruce Jenner interview either! How in the world can you keep that a secret for 65 years?!? It's insane but I'll totally be watching his show this summer!

  14. I missed the Bruce documentary but from what I saw on twitter it sounded like it was really interested and brave of him to share! I totally don't get that tummy sleeve thing- how does it not just move up?? Or maybe it does, since it sounds like it didn't really work out for you- I hope you can find some jeans you love eventually! All of your old baby clothes are so sweet- what a cool thing to have for your baby :)

  15. It was so interesting to watch, I was so surprised he's lived his entire life wanting to be a women and that he'd told his wives too. Just crazy! I definitely felt sad for him, I can't imagine holding something like that in your entire life.
