I'm Over It

True story

I'm so over Summer. Being pregnant during the Summer is the worst. I was never a hot natured person but pregnancy has transformed me. I sleep with one sheet on, that's it, and sometimes I take that off. While Theo sleeps with the sheet, duvet, and a sheet over that and says it's freezing when I turn the A/C down to 73 degrees. Beyond the constant hotness, I really can't complain. I've had a fairly easy pregnancy, no swelling but I contribute that to my daily 2-3 liters of water consumption and really no aches or pains. I do get short of breath at times that's to be expected when you have a baby and your ever growing uterus knocking into your diaphragm.

I mentioned how there's 6 of us pregnant at work which has been so much fun. Well, 2 of the girls who were due in August have delivered, so guess who's next up, ME! I feel like we're in line for a really tall scary roller coaster and it's about to be my turn to go down it. When I first got pregnant labor was the last thing on my mind, I was just praying everyday that the baby would survive the first trimester. Now here I am at 32 weeks and 4 days and I'm starting to get scared of labor. It's more I'm scared of the unknown. I'm a nurse so I like to be in control of my health and this is the one time where I have no control and it freaks me out.

I'm also really nervous about the delivery. Ignorance is bliss and I just know way too much. I keep reminding myself that the majority of baby's are born fine but in the back of my mind I know things can still go wrong. That's life I know and I also know the worrying never ends once the baby comes!

Fall can not come soon enough. I've already got my Fall candle lit in my house. It's a great Fall-ish candle without being all pumpkiny since you know it's not even September yet.

I'm over the 5 dresses that still fit me, and I still have 7 more weeks so who knows what will fit me by then. Since the baby will be here at the beginning of October and it'll be cooler out, I need to find a few pieces to wear around the house but that I can also wear out too. Especially since I'm not expecting to fit in my normal clothes right off the bat. I know I'm going to want to burn those 5 dresses by then so I wanted to find a few things to look forward to wearing.

I'm thinking about getting a couple pairs of these leggings to wear postpartum.

Sam Edelman makes the most comfortable shoes so I plan on getting a pair of these simple black flats to wear when I leave the house.

Mommas, what else should I plan to wear post baby? What should I pack in my hospital bag?

Sorry for the random ramblings but I'm at that point where time can speed up and I'm ready for this baby to get here!

  3. I can't imagine being pregnant in charleston in the summer but you're almost finished with both the heat and the pregnancy! I have two J Crew dresses that I used to wear all the time and loved and then found out that they worked perfectly while pregnant...just gave them away yesterday because I can't stand the sight of them anymore! Do you have a Mott50 dress? Expensive but seriously comfortable and worked for me this pregnancy until the very end even though it is not maternity. But yes dressing at the end is so hard!! As for the fears, I hear you on all of them but just do your best to relax and know everything is going to be just fine!

  4. Girl, I was right there. I was a NICU nurse when I had my first so no one could convince me my labor would be fine! But by the time the last few weeks arrived, I didn't care how she came, I was just ready for her to come. I told her I didn't care if she clawed her way through my belly button, just come out already! Ha! I'm really glad now that she didn't claw her way out my belly button, but seriously you'll probably hit a point where you're just ready! :) Knowing too much is such a curse sometimes!

  5. Praying for a quick and uncomplicated delivery. I am sure you are beyond ready to meet baby. Let me know what you decide to pack in your hospital bag as I need all the advice I can get! I have heard Zella Live In Leggings are great pregnant and post. I snagged a pair one size up in hopes it will take me to the third trimester.

  6. I started worrying about delivery in my last month too but the closer you get, the more you want that baby out so you'll do whatever it takes to get him here safely! The worrying doesn't stop but just know that you've got doctors and nurses that are going to be there for both of you and are pretty darn amazing at what they do. I don't know what we would have done without the one nurse that was with us through my whole labor and delivery! As far as post-pregnancy clothes, I wore a lot of yoga pants and leggings that had a nice wide band at the top to hold things in.. haha. And also some nursing tanks with thin cardigans were my go-to.

  7. dont worry!! you're almost there and i promise the labor and delivery part will be over before you know it and you'll be happy as can be once your baby is here! i wore a lot of leggings after i delivered and tank tops. I wasnt a fan of the nursing tops but a good nursing bra is a must. i bought that scoopneck tee and i returned it bc the back flap looked crazy long on me and i couldnt stop thinking "duck tail" and then singing the theme song to that show.. but it might look better on you since you're taller! xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  9. Very well put about being in line at a scary roller coaster! That's totally how I feel. And in the next few weeks I have to start thinking about post partum wardrobe but I'm getting so tried of buying things every single day!!

  10. Leggings will for sure be your friend postpartum! You will like having a fall baby, it gives you the layering months to lose the weight and since this is your first, you'll likely snap back pretty quickly and be ready for summertime. I had my 3rd baby in May 2014 and I was so much heavier for so much longer...I mean, I didn't even want to wear shorts so I went through the entire Charleston summer in jeans. Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy and your delivery - remember the odds are in your favor and worrying never solved anything ;-)

  12. I feel you!! A couple weeks before Pres was born temps were in the 100's and I only have an AC unit in the family room! I was dying I was so damn hot! After I delivered all the guests kept saying how cold my room was but I was sweating!! Don't you worry an ounce about labor (like I said before I actually MISS it!) you will be so excited to meet your baby that all those little worries will fall by the wayside. I suggest to get a lot of nursing tank tops for the first couple of months. I lived in mine! So excited for you!

  13. Those clothes will be perfect for you. Comfort is everything. The unknowing of labor is so hard but if really does all happen just like it's supposed to. You nurses always take care of the patients so don't worry. You'll be in good hands plus Theo will be by your side the whole time!
