This weekend was my baby shower and the baby and I were so blessed with all the generous gifts we got. My shower was hosted by my mom, my aunt, Theo's mom and his aunt and they all did such a great job with everything. I loved the little party favors they made. They were blue shower scrub in little mason jars.

That night we went to Pearlz in Avondale with some friends and I had the yummiest Cod Sliders.

I'm not going to lie, I really do miss being able to drink. I kind of feel like I'm under 21 again and everyone around me is able to drink and I'm stuck being the DD. What's funny is I'm not even a big drinker normally but I think it's more I miss having the option. Not much longer!

Sunday was gross and rainy out so I started to tackle some of the baby's laundry.

Washing baby clothes is a pain the butt. Some things say wash in warm water, some say cold, some say tumble dry low, some say air dry, some say wash inside out, it's insane. I bought some Dreft even though I have perfectly good free and clear detergent already but I wanted to see what the hype was about. Yes it's smells good but it doesn't last so this will probably be my one and only bottle.

I've started reading some sleep training books for when the baby comes. I've been reading Moms on Call which has great reviews and I really like how they have an app and a set schedule you follow.

I also got the book Twelve Hours' Sleep by Twelve Weeks which is supposed to have the baby sleeping 12 hours at night.

Any other books I should check out? I'm open for suggestions!

I had been wanting a Swell water bottle for awhile now but I couldn't justify spending $45 on a water bottle. I drink a ton of water so I know I would get lots of use out of it but still. Luckily Amanda recommended the Mira water bottle from Amazon. I got the large bottle which is 25oz/650 ml and it was around $20. It works great, keeps water cold all day. It actually claims it keeps it cold for 24 hours but I drink water so often it would never last that long for me to find out! I like that it doesn't have any condensation on the bottle so you can carry it in your purse without worrying about water getting on everything.

I've been so slack about cooking dinner since I've been pregnant but with Fall coming, I always get in the mood to cook and bake in the Fall!, and the end of my pregnancy approaching I've been trying to get back to cooking again. I made White Cheese and Chicken Lasagna last week that turned out awesome. It was even better the next day heated up.

I also made this Summer Skillet Gnocchi that Annie posted about. We eat gnocchi a lot, we normally eat it with Vodka Sauce and chicken sausage, but this recipe was probably my favorite. Grilled corn is so sweet and goes so well with the gnocchi and cream sauce. We'll definitely be making this again!

Have a good Monday and I hope those of you in Hurricane Ericka's path are staying safe and dry!

  1. So happy that your shower was everything that you had dreamed of - you and baby deserve it!!! That chicken and cheese lasagna sounds amazing - definitely pinning to make it!!! Hope you have a great Monday! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. We are sorta doing moms on call but tailoring it to work for us. Those scheduled nap times every day are hard to make happen at the point because she's so young. The concepts behind the book are really good though.

  3. Loved being able to celebrate you and baby H this past weekend!! That water bottle might be my next purchase, if it doesn't sweat that would be great to have in a diaper bag!

  4. I love the bath salts idea and glad you had a wonderful time! I've been wanting the s'well bottle too but not loving the price tag so I'll try out this other one, thanks!

  5. Oh and I ignore the tags on the clothes and wash everything together on cold!

  6. Yum! Both of those recipes look so good! I actually wash all of our clothes in cold water. It helps the energy bill and solves the issue of multiple loads for different temperatures!

  7. So happy you had an amazing shower! And that lasagna looks AMAZING! I am definitely going to have to give that a try!

  8. So glad the baby shower went well - you look beautiful!! I pinned the gnocchi after Annie shared it and now I really can't wait to try it. Happy Monday!

  9. I feel your pain on not being able to drink. I have never been a huge drinker but every time we go to a nice restaurant I truly miss a glass of white wine. I know it will be worth it in the end though!

  10. Counting the days for an extra large glass of wine!!! You looked so beautiful at your shower - I hope it was a blast and that you got lots of great goodies!

  11. you looked great at your shower!! :) loved that dress. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  12. So I loved the smell of Dreft but it was pricey. When I was halfway through a bottle I'd add the free and clear and shake it to mix. Worked fine and gave me longer with scent!

  13. You and your Mom look so much alike! Cute! I went through exactly one bottle of dreft that was mostly used on baby prep- like what you're doing now! It was fun while it lasted but not worth it, in my mind. My free and clear works fine for her stuff now (and I RARELY read labels on her stuff now. Ain't NOBODY got time for that with baby clothes!! hah : ) ) Awesome looking recipes, thanks for sharing!

  14. Yeah!!!!!!!!!! So glad you love that bottle! I actually think I'm going to order the 25oz one now because even though the 17 fits in my cup holder I definitely have to refill it a lot! You look absolutely amazing!!! I cannot believe how close you are!

  15. I love your shower dress! Sounds like your shower was a success. And baby got a lot of great things!

  16. Your shower dress is seriously stunning! I love those sweet favors. And I just pinned the white cheese and chicken recipe. Yum! xo
