Week 36 Bumpdate

by Ally- Life as I know it, 5:00 AM

How Many Weeks: 36 weeks 5 days. So I'm now 9 months pregnant and will by full term on Friday. Can't believe it!

Size of Baby: We had an ultrasound last week and baby is measuring in the 57th percentile and weighing approximately 6lbs 5oz. My doctor still says I'm on track for an 8lb baby but I have a feeling he'll be more like 7.5 lbs. The ultrasound tech did say he was very long, which is no surprise there since I'm tall and lanky.

Gender: Little baby boy

Movement: He moves a ton. Pretty much all the time. And it really does hurt sometimes since he's running out of room. I know some people say they feel less movement as the baby runs out of room, but I think I feel more than ever.

Sleep: Pretty bad lately. I've been waking up around 2am every night, wide awake, with my mind racing. It takes me a couple hours to fall back asleep. So I've been a lot more tired during the day too.

Maternity Clothes: Just dresses. I bought a pair of maternity leggings but after I got them I wasn't sure why since I won't be pregnant for much longer. So I'll probably return them. I'm mostly planning my post pregnancy outfits these days, gives me something to look forward to!

Weight gain: 27 lbs or so. I heard in the last few weeks you don't really gain any weight, you may even lose some. The scale is pretty much sitting still for now.

Symptoms: I've definitely got the "waddle" going on. Fatigue has come back but I'll also have periods of full on energy. Kind of feeling crampy at times. There was one day last week where everyone kept saying I looked like I had "dropped." I've always carried low so it's hard for me to tell. I have Braxton Hicks a lot more now. Always at work when I'm on my feet and pushing stretchers around. My blood pressure has been going up at each appointment which isn't surprising since I have high blood pressure to begin with and I have my kidney disease. My doctor isn't too worried, my urine has been negative for protein, but she said if it stays up she may just up my blood pressure meds. I check it at home and it's always a lot lower than at the office and I feel great so I'm not freaking out yet.

Cravings/aversions: I eat dessert with every single day which is the best thing ever.

Missing Most: Being able to drink and to wear normal clothes and deli sandwiches! I would kill for a Pub Sub with turkey meat.

Nursery: All finished and ready for the baby! Here's a sneak peek:

Hubby: Is ready for the baby to get here. We both are.

Best Part of the Week: We had a great ultrasound last week where they did a Biophysical Profile (it's a non stress test and ultrasound that checks to see if the baby is practice breathing, moving well, and checks amniotic fluid level) and the baby passed! I found out I'm 1 cm dilated which got me so excited but then I remembered you can be dilated for weeks and nothing happens. It's still cool to know your body is getting ready!

Can't Wait For: Still having my weekly appointments where I have to be hooked up to the monitor and do a non stress test. My induction is scheduled but my Dr. said at this time if the baby decides to come on his own they won't do anything to stop it. Give me some fluids and see if that stops it but if not, she said baby's know when they're ready more than we do. I just want him to hold out till October. I'll be 38 weeks then and I really have my heart set on an October baby!
