Weekend

How was your weekend? Friday night we went to Cinebarre and saw The Visit.

I really like M. Night Shyamalan movies because they always have a twist at the end. They aren't your typical horror movies, and usually once you find out the twist, they aren't scary at all. The Visit didn't disappoint and I thought the twist was very unexpected. It was a good movie to get you in the mood for scary movie season!

Saturday I cleaned up around the house and went on a Target run. I picked up these Nursing Sleep bras and then I came home and saw they don't have the best reviews online! I'm going to keep them because they weren't expensive, but I'd love get some nursing bra recommendations! I heard the Bravado brand is great. Any others?!

That night Theo made us a homemade pizza and we watched the first episode of season 2 of The Affair. It isn't airing on TV till next Sunday October 4th, but you can watch it on the Showtime App now. I loved the first season but still feel like it's one of those shows that should stop after one season. So I'm curious to see how a second season will be.

I made the Butterfinger Pie I talked about on my Friday post and it was SO good! Only 4 ingredients too!

Early Friday morning a tornado came through Johns Island, a few miles away from Charleston, and damaged 60 or so homes.

Tornadoes are not normal in Charleston at all. We'll have some tornado watches and warnings here and there during thunderstorms but nothing ever comes of it. I was sleeping during the whole thing and because I had my phone on silent I didn't even hear the National Weather System text message telling everyone to take cover. I can't stop thinking what if my house had been in the path of the tornado and I had been sleeping on the second level of my house when it hit. No one has basements here because we're below sea level, so I really don't know what we would have done. Luckily there were no fatalities and those who had damage to their homes were able to take cover, even though they only had a 7 minute warning before it hit. I feel so fortunate that our home wasn't touched and it's made me realize we need to have a plan in place in case this happens again. Knowing you could have less than 10 minutes before it hits is really terrifying.

And because I'm finding myself worrying so much more as I approach the end of my pregnancy:

  1. Oh wow, I can't believe a tornado went through there an you were sleeping! That's so scary but I'm glad you're ok and there were no fatalities from it. Tornadoes are so scary. On a happier note, that butterfinger pie looks amazing! And I might have to go see The Visit since you said it wasn't very scary. Happy Monday girl!

  2. Oh gosh - I'm so happy that there were no fatalities in the tornado, so scary that it came in the night! Every time I see a commercial for the Visit I have to turn it off - too scary for me LOL! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. How did I not hear about the tornado?! Scary! On the bras -- I had two of them and I liked them. They held nursing pads in place pretty well. Sometimes I'd just sleep in a tank top with a built in bra though, I think it worked the same. My favorite nursing bra ever came from target. Ummm I still wear it - and I haven't nursed in 4 months. I'll try to find it and send you the link.

  4. At night I did the same as A.liz and wore nursing tanks, I also had a few Motherhood bras that I wore a lot. That pie!!!! The tornado destroyed one of our friends houses. So so scary.

  5. I'm so glad the tornados weren't as bad as they could have been. However, I'm with you and like to have a plan for what to do in case of emergencies. I also thought that those emergency notifications overrode silence/vibrate on a phone? On a lighter note, I have one bravado bra that's great (often found on Zulilly) and one super old one by Elle McPherson that's my favorite. The first two times I slept in nursing tanks but somehow I they got lost in the moves so now I just sleep in my nursing bras. Just make sure you get wireless ones at least for the first few months! And button front pajamas are a great help too!

  6. Whaat, my husband is going to be so happy when I tell him we can watch The Affair a week early, haha. I actually didn't even watch the last few episodes of season 1 because I got kind of bored with it, and am also surprised they continued it on. I'm so glad everyone was okay in the tornado-- so scary.

  7. Those are the nursing sleep bras that I use all the time and I love them! I bought other ones that were more expensive and actually like the Target ones better so I say give them a shot. The tornado was scary... we hid in our laundry room but they say bathrooms are the best option as long as they don't have windows. Hopefully it won't ever be an issue again but its good to have a plan!

  8. Those are the nursing bras I used and I thought they worked great! My only recommendation would be to get another pack if you find out that you like them. Same with nursing tanks, as soon as you find ones that you like buy more. Nobody has time to do laundry every other day!

  11. I'm only a few days in but I bought those GG bras and the bravado bra too, and WAY perfect then bravado. It offers a lot more support - I've been in mine 24 hours a day and just had to buy another one on Amazon.

  12. I used both the Bravado brand and the Target kind. I found the Target ones were great for sleeping in and the Bravado for wearing out and about.

  13. I have decent sized nursing boobs and the target ones ended up not being very comfortable, but like you, I kept them because they're cheap. I wear them occasionally but I don't like that you can see them around the neck with a t shirt on. I have a Bravado bra and a mustela bra that I've loved and Target tanks were my FAVE while I was getting the hang of things. At first it was weird to feel so exposed with the bras and the tanks help cover your stomach and back. Now I could care less :) I'm only 4 months in and so excited for you!

Also, I'm from Oklahoma so tornadoes are the norm and I would MUCH rather have a tornado than a hurricane!

  14. I want that pie for dessert!! The Visit looks terrifying… I’d be watching it through my hands and likely not be able to sleep that night!

  15. Oh my gosh that is so scary! I can't imagine only having 10 minutes to get out before your house is completely damaged. Glad you were safe!

  16. Butterfinger pie and homemade pizza....yes please! And about that tornado. So scary! It was way too close to home for me, but thankful we weren't in the path of destruction.
