five on friday

1. Beautycounter came out with their baby line this week and I can't wait to try it on Oliver. I'm pretty obsessed with their makeup and was thrilled when I heard they were making skincare for babies as well. After reading this article about Johnson & Johnson it really reinforces how important it is to use skincare with only non toxic safe ingredients.

2. I'm starting to plan Oliver's Easter basket and came across a website that sells monogrammed Jellycat bunnies. Jellycat stuffed animals are the softest and I'm a sucker for anything monogrammed for Oliver so he'll definitely be getting one in his little basket! FYI order by March 6th if you want it in time for Easter!

3. I think I may of lost it but I've decided to give up sugar, at least for now. My dessert consumption is out of control. First my excuse was I'm pregnant and I need the calories. Then it was I'm breastfeeding and really, really need the calories. Lately it's been, who cares if I eat three cookies and one piece of cake. Sugar really is addicting and the more you eat the more you crave and need it. It's gotten to the point where I have zero self control around sweets. I've also been getting headaches and always have sinus congestion and it gets worse the more sugar I eat. Maybe it's all in my head but so far it's been two days of no sweets and I can breathe better and just overall feel better. And when you're only getting 6 broken up hours of sleep every night you need the extra energy!

4. One of my favorites Chrissy Teigen just came out with her first cookbook and I'm so excited to check it out! I've been reading her blog Sodelushious for years, back before she was really even famous. I wish we were real life BFFs not just in my mind. We make her Low and Slow Eggs pretty much every weekend in our house. You've gotta try them, they're the most perfect scrambled eggs.

5. So I'm ready to do some sleep training with Oliver. He'll be 5 months next week and he's still waking up twice, sometimes three times to eat at night. And I know it's a habit because it's around the same time every night. It's even become a habit for me because I'll wake up a few minutes before he does! He wakes up crying, I go and feed him, then he's back to sleep for a few hours then we do it all over again. I've tried to send Theo in there so he doesn't smell his meal train but he just gets angry and cries more. I end up feeding him because at this point I'm so exhausted. The Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit hasn't helped as much as I would have liked either. He sleeps in his crib now which I guess is what I was trying to achieve but he's still waking up multiple times at night. I really can't stand to hear him cry and I don't think crying it out would work for him because the more he screams and cries it becomes impossible to get him to go back to sleep. So any sleep suggestions send them my way! It's really amazing how you learn to function off of such little sleep once you become a parent!

Staypuff Oliver

  1. I actually just recommended Jelly Cats to someone as a baby shower gift - they are pretty cute!! I couldn't believe the news about J&J so scary! Hope you have a great weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. hang in there with oliver!!! it might still be too early to sleep train him, but i'd ask your pediatrician. anyways i love love those monogramed jellycats! if vi didnt already have so many i would buy her one for easter. xoxo

  3. I love those jellycat bunnies!! And I've heard good things about Beauty counter. Are they in stores? Also, good luck with sleep training! It took us awhile to get it down. I find that it helped to get them used to getting to sleep on their own when you first put them down to bed at night. So we let him cry it out a little when we're awake and functioning and then he's better able to get himself back to sleep in the middle of the night. Hang in there!

  4. Ahh those bunnies are so cute! I haven't made anything from Chrissy's cookbook yet, but I was literally laughing out loud reading through it!

  5. Yeah I'm so glad your blog is up and running again! I am obsessed with beauty counter. I just ordered the skincare line and my face is finally clearing up. It really makes me realize what I was putting on my face before!

  6. I love those jellycat animals, but I'm desperate for things that captivate Leo's attention for more than 3 minutes, so I think he's going to be getting some loud, plastic sh*t in his Easter basket! ;)

  7. The store I used to work at sold Jelly Cats and I'm obsessed! Such a great little gift! All my friends end up with them from me! I am excited about the Baby line from BeautyCounter, too! I've ordered to give as gifts to some expectant mamas! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
