Non-Toxic Makeup Favorites

Let me start this off with, I am no makeup artist. I pretty much wear the same makeup if I'm going out at night or if I'm hanging around the house with the kids. I talked about in this post My 5 Steps to Clear Skin my struggle with my acne, so a lot of my makeup is covering up old acne scars. Speaking of that post, I highly recommend checking it out if you also struggle with adult acne. Those 5 things I talked about are still used every single day and have made a world of a difference in the state of my skin. Ok, back to makeup! So, everything I use is non-toxic/clean whatever you want to call it. What that means is, it's free from parabens, phthalates, fragrances, chemicals, you know all the buzz words right now. Basically things that could possibly cause cancer, disrupt hormones, etc. Whether they really do cause all those things or not, it's definitely up for debate. In my opinion though, if I have the option to buy cleaner products, then I do.

I start with EltaMD Clear UV Daily Sunscreen - I didn't like this at first but now I love it. I just have to always use Micellar Water to get it all off my face each night or I can breakout. This acts as a primer for makeup, too. The biggest way to prevent aging is to wear daily sunscreen, so this is a nonnegotiable for me.

Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation (I wear shade 2.5) - I've been using this for years and it's the best. It covers so well, leaves you with a flawless finish, and is very build-able depending on how much coverage you want.

Hynt Duet Perfecting Concealer (I wear shade Light) - I use this for acne scars and under my eyes. A little goes a long way and it does an amazing job.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder - This is just a translucent powder I lightly tap all over my face. It sets my makeup and prevents me from getting oily throughout the day.

Beautycounter Matte Bronzer (I wear shade No. 1)- I don't really love this bronzer, it just isn't pigmented enough for me. It's what I have been using for years so it gets the job done though. Once I run out I am going to look for something else.

W3ll People Nudist Multi-Use Color Stick (I wear Nude Rose) - I prefer cream blush to powder because I think it looks more natural. This can also also be used as eye shadow and lipstick.

Beautycounter Color Define Brow Pencil (I wear shade Light) - I'm embarrassed to say I've only been coloring in my eyebrows for the past year! I didn't realize what a difference it makes to your overall appearance! Now it's become a must.

Lily Lolo Eye Pencil (I wear shade Brown)- This eyeliner smudges in the right ways. Like when you want to smudge it with a brush to give you a certain look but it doesn't smudge all under your eyes at the end of the day- know what I mean? It's a good one.

Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer - Before using an eyelash primer, I would end up with mascara all under my eyes- just hours after applying! I tried so many different brands, toxic/non-toxic, drugstore, department store, waterproof, you name it, and I never had any luck. It wasn't until I got a primer as a gift with purchase that I realized this was what I needed the whole time! This is a game changer for me. It also makes your lashes longer and fuller.

Lily Lolo Big Lash Mascara/Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara - I alternate between these two. I like them both equally. They both make my lashes longer, thicker, darker, and give more volume.

RMS Living Luminizer - I wear this if I'm going out, usually not for everyday wear. I apply it just on my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, and cupid's bow. I really have no clue what I'm doing with a highlighter but I feel like this one is foolproof and gives me little bit of glow. I don't like a matte look so I think this gives my face dimension and it looks natural. You only need a little bit, too.

RMS Eyeshadow in Solar - This is a pretty shimmery bronze color that I think makes my blue eyes pop. It's super easy to apply. I think this color would work for any skin tone but I do love it on blondes!
