5 on Friday

Happy long weekend! We're headed out of town to spend time with family. Hope you have a great one!

We had an impromptu beach day on Saturday. The weather could not have been more perfect. It was my decision to go but Theo suggested we make it easy and don't bring any chairs, a tent, or even a wagon . At first I thought he was insane and just knew he would regret this decision as soon as we got out there. I mean we at least needed the wagon to cart the kids! But, it worked out really well. We just brought two bags with towels and sandwiches, I carried Elsie, Oliver walked and carried his beach toys, and Theo had Pixie. It made me realize all those other trips where we practically packed our whole house were really not necessary. The kids don't sit still for long anyways and all they care about is the water! It was a lot of fun and I'm glad Pixie was able to go since she doesn't go on too many family outings anymore.

We are loving The Righteous Gemstones on HBO. It's Danny McBride's newest show and it was filmed here in Charleston. Most places are 5 minutes from my house! So we love seeing all the local spots on TV. The show is hilarious, too.

I listened to a Podcast recently on Mom Brain about supplements to give kids. Daphne recommended giving them an Omega-3 supplement which I had never thought of before. She swore it made a difference in her daughter's speech weeks after starting it. So whether it'll make a difference in Elsie's speech or not, who knows, but I do know it's good for their brains. Elsie is off formula now so I felt like she needed some additional vitamins so I ordered the Omega-3 packets to start giving her. I'll probably give it to Oliver, too. I also got her a bottle of Vitamin D drops . Oliver takes a gummy vitamin with Vitamin D in it but Elsie is too young for those so I went with the drops for her. From what I've read, it's practically impossible to overdose on Vitamin D but most people are very deficient in it. I take 4000 IU a day. These are the drops I use. Ok, while searching for all these I just realized they make these multivitamin drops for babies, so I may start giving them to Elsie!

I've gotten hooked on Whole Foods' salmon poke bowl. So much I crave it everyday. They're pretty pricey so I'm curious if I could recreate one at home. I found this recipe and it looks easy enough. I'll have to try it and report back!

I made these delicious Meatloaf Minis for our dinner the other night from 100 Days of Real Food. I really made them for Oliver but of course he didn't like them. So Theo and I ate them all! I think it was a texture thing for Oliver, but who knows, toddlers are funny. I'll definitely be making them again because they were so good and easy! Oh, and I used turkey meat instead of beef. I try not to eat too much red meat.
