My Favorite Things of 2019

by Ally- Life as I know it, 2:19 PM

I felt like 2018 was the year of pregnancy/learning to survive with two kids- read My Favorite Things of 2018. 2019 was the year we kind of got a handle on the two kid thing (it's a work in progress!) and it was time to focus on getting back to normal and working on myself.

My skin went crazy once my period came back - I'm talking BAD acne!- after having both kids and this time I wasn't putting up with it. So, you're going to find in this post that most of my favorite things from last year was skincare. I'm hoping 2020 is the year I finally get back in shape from having my kids!

EltaMD Clear UV- 2019 was the year I finally started wearing daily sunscreen- I was long overdue! I used to think sunscreen was so sticky and left a white cast on my face but EltaMD has changed my opinion of that. It leaves your face dewy and with no whiteness at all. Sunscreen is the #1 way to prevent aging and you need to wear it every single day!

Bioderma Micellar Water- I use this after I double cleanse my face and it's amazing how much makeup is left. I strongly think a big reason I used to breakout so bad was because I wasn't getting all the makeup off my face at night. I barely breakout anymore and I think Micellar Water plays a huge part in that.

Biologique Recherche P50- The #1 product that has changed skin's texture is this. It's an exfoliating toner that I use twice a day. I used to have lots of deep pockmarks leftover from acne scars and since using P50, they have lessened tremendously. It also leaves your skin more eventoned and less red. P50 has a huge cult following, celebrities swear by it, and it's an amazing product that I think everyone would benefit from.

Maelove The Glow Maker- This was the icing on the cake for my acne. I thought I was using the best products for my skin, until I started using this. It's a Vitamin C serum comparable to SkinCeuticals but cost 1/3 of the price. It's full of lots of good antioxidants for your skin and for me, it's prevented acne. I was never impressed with Vitamin C serums in the past until I started using The Glow Maker. I'm currently just using it at night, but once I run out of my day serum, I'm going to start applying this in the morning as well.

White Canvas Tretorns- My everyday white sneaker that I wear with just about everything. They're super comfy and feel like you're walking on a cloud.

Soludos- I wore these sandals all summer long and the platform -only $40!- ones for nicer events. I prefer to be a minimalist when it comes to clothes and shoes. I really don't own a lot and would rather have a few nice things than 5 or 6 cheap ones. For me personally, I don't need lots of options, just two.

Dudley Stephens- DS makes the softest, chicest fleece that you can wear casual or dress up. I ordered two styles - Cobble Hill in Off White and Park Slope in Island Coral- during Tuckernuck's Black Friday sale and I would wear them every single day if it would just stay cold here. They keep you really warm! Use code FUN10 to get 10% off!

Tuckernuck Ashford Pant- I wore these pants all holiday season long with a nice top and heels. They fit like dressy yoga pants. They're high rise so very forgiving. Use code FUN10 to get 10% off!

Sam Edelman Petty Boots- My Petty boots are pretty much the only booties I own and I wear them all fall/winter long. I get so many compliments on them!

Le Specs Armada Sunglasses- My everyday sunglasses. I like them because they're kind of middle of the road. They aren't too expensive where I'll feel like I lost my life savings if they break yet they aren't cheap at all so they aren't going to break too easily.

J. Crew Vintage Straight Eco Jeans - My go-to jeans! They're the perfect mix of straight leg, cropped, and high rise.
