My Morning Ritual

by Ally- Life as I know it, 9:22 PM

During these Covid times, having a morning ritual gives me some sort of normalcy and predictability when in reality we have no clue what our future holds. I've found doing these 4 things in the morning sets me up for a good day so I feel my best.

Natural Calm Magnesium- I talked about this in my Amazon post but this supplement does exactly what it claims to do, it calms you. It truly helps with any anxiety I may be dealing with it and I swear it gives me energy but like calming energy if that makes sense. The only ingredient is Magnesium and because it's in a powder form, your body is able to absorb it faster. I usually feel the calming effects about 10-15 minutes after I take it. For dosage, I usually do 1 tsp in the morning and another tsp around lunch time. The one time I did a tsp before bed, I was wired and couldn't go to sleep. Which makes no sense and maybe it was a random thing but I just decided to stick to lunch time! 2 tsp is a serving size (350 mg) but they recommend you spread it out throughout the day for best results. I mix it in cold water and then drink it fast but you could add it to anything. It doesn't taste bad. Kind of like citrusy/metal? Haha that sounds gross but I don't mind it. They do make flavors I just haven't tried any yet.

Liquid Vitamin D- I've been a big believer in Vitamin D for years. I wrote a long blog post about it and how getting my levels up took away my brain fog I was having. I was taking 1000-2000 units a day but I recently heard on a podcast from a physician we should be taking 5000 units a day. He said he's never seen anyone with a toxic level even himself and he said he takes 150,000 units for 3 days if he starts to get sick! That freaks me out but 5000 units I can do. Around 70% of our population is severely deficient in Vit D and low levels are linked to lots of cancers,  it promotes healthy bones and teeth, regulates insulin levels, supports lung and cardiovascular health, and boosts your immune system. We do get Vit D from the sun but not enough. People with darker skin tones actually have some of the lowest levels. They have more melanin in their skin and that makes it a lot harder for their bodies to make Vit D from the sun. I like the drop forms of Vitamin D the best because they're so easy. Also, if you've never had your levels checked, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Most doctors are getting better about it but it isn't always routine to check. Even though it's very important.

Matcha Green Tea- I am not a coffee drinker at all. It makes me so wired and jittery and then shortly after, I crash and feel worthless. And the after taste it always leaves is awful! I realize that's just me because everyone loves coffee! I prefer green tea and I recently started drinking matcha and like it even better! Green tea just gives me an alertness that lasts all day. I only need one cup and it wakes me up instantly and I'm good to go. Green tea is full of antioxidants, it reduces inflammation, helps with weight loss, and strengthens your immune system. I also fast in the morning and drinking green tea curbs my appetite so I'm not starving.

Ice Roller- Oh my ice roller, my best friend. I use it 1-2 x a day to get rid of acne, wrinkles, puffiness, and overall smooth my skin. I wear a mask at work for 10 hours a day and it's wreaked havoc on my skin, mascne is a real thing. So I like to use the ice roller to decrease any pimples that have popped up. Everyone needs an ice roller! It's such an easy, effective way to turn back the hands of time, haha!

  1. I heard that podcast too about taking Vit D! Maybe a dumb question, but is one dropper of it = to 5000 units? Or do you take more than 1 dropper full?

I love reading your comments! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog!
