My Thoughts on medical grade skincare

I am not one of those lucky people who doesn't have to wash their face at night and never wears sunscreen or use moisturizer and they just have perfect skin. I have always taken really good care of my skin because it's acne prone and has become very sensitive with age. I've found less is more especially if the products are very potent. Too much and my skin freaks out and goes crazy! I've slowly started transitioning to medical grade skincare and it's truly made a huge difference in my skin. The products aren't cheap but luckily you don't need to use much so they last a long time. I also always try to use my HSA card to purchase, and it works most of the time! I'm turning 35 this summer and felt like it was time to up my game in the skincare department!

EltaMD UV Clear Sunscreen- my holy grail sunscreen that not only protects my skin from the sun but it also helps keep my skin clear. It also has lots of good ingredients like niacinamide that lightens old scars and improves the texture of your skin. This takes the place of my daily primer or moisturizer. I wear it every single day.

Obagi Vitamin C 20%- Prior to using this serum, I used "over the counter" type products that were also Vitamin C just not medical grade. They worked fine but one day I randomly took a test on Jordan Harper's website to see what Vitamin C serum would be good for my skin type and this was what it recommended. I decided to try out a bottle to at least see if it would make a difference and if not, I would go back to what I was using before. I noticed a significant difference in my skin within weeks. Like improved texture, it's lightened acne scars, I've seen less acne since using it, and overall a more even skin tone. I'm hooked!

AlphaRet Overnight Cream- I was given a sample of this to try months ago but I was too chicken to try it out because it has retinol and I didn't want my skin to freak out! Then I was recently talking to a friend who's a NP and she said this is what she recommends to use and that it's very gentle but very effective. I decided to give it a shot, only using it every other night at first, and see how my skin reacted. After doing that for a week, and my skin had zero issues, I started using it nightly. I've never seen a product change the look of my skin so fast! My biggest issue is old acne scars and uneven skin tone and in days of using, this product has helped so much. I only wish I would have started using this years ago! Oh, and you use the smallest amount for your whole face, just one pump. It should easily last for 6 months or more. It's an expensive product, but knowing you only have to buy it twice a year helps to justify it I think!

Revision Brightening Wash- This face wash is very strong for my skin so I only use it once day, in the morning. But, a lot of people use it twice a day and have great results. It has glycolic acid which my skin reacts so well to but it can be drying, especially at first, so keep that in mind. I really do love this face wash and my acne has decreased a lot since using it.

Glycolix Treatment Pads 10%- These pads are so inexpensive and I think they work great to keep acne away, less wrinkles, and even your skin tone. I started using the 15% first and after 6 months of using my skin still burned, like really burned for a good 10 minutes. I felt like I should probably switch to the lower strength. I did and now I have less burn and my skin actually looks better! More is not always better especially if you have sensitive skin. These are a no brainer to me that I think everyone could benefit from. I use mine at night only because once a day of exfoliation is all my skin can handle. They also make a 20% concentration if your skin can take it!
