Goals for 2022

by Ally- Life as I know it, 9:50 AM

Happy New Year! I don't know about you, but I feel like 2022 is the year where life finally feels back to normal. These past 2 years have been such a whirlwind and thrown our lives upside down. I just have this optimism that 2022 is going to be the year that we can finally breathe a sigh of relief and hopefully the chaos has calmed down. Oliver found a four-leaf clover on New Year's Day and maybe that's what's setting off this optimism for the new year. I also know attitude is everything. 2020 was the year of Covid but it was also the year my husband had a very serious stroke. He lost his ability to form words but with lots of Speech Therapy has since gained it back. After 18 months, he's practically back to normal but it was the scariest experience I've ever dealt with. In March of 2021, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was very, very fortunate that it was early Stage One because it was caught early. We also lost my husband's twin sister from Colon Cancer this past October.

When these things happen it just takes your innocence away from life. I hate that because I've always been such a dreamer and a happy person. And I still am, Prozac helps!, but also it forces you to appreciate every single day and take nothing in life for granted. My point of behind all this is, I am looking forward to a fresh, new year!  I feel like my life is back to normal or the "New Normal" that it is. I feel good personally with my health, Theo's in good health and spirits and the shock of all that we've been through these past 2 years has settled down.

I did set a few goals for the year.  They're nothing too big, just a few things I'm planning to work on. I am making a big effort to eat more vegetables, fruits, and overall plants like nuts, seeds, and beans in my diet everyday. Whether it's counting plant points or just putting forth lots of effort to eat more plants with my meals, it's going to happen! I feel 10 times better and have more energy, more patience, and I sleep better when I eat healthy (and stay away from sugar!)

Another goal that I'm actually starting tomorrow, well it's not really a goal, but more of just a break, is a social media break.  My friends and I were talking about all the time that we spend on social media everyday and it's just embarrassing! To think that you spend so many hours of everyday just sitting on your phone scrolling but we all do it! So starting tomorrow we are changing each other's password (so we can't sneak!) and we are taking a break from social media for the whole month of January. I absolutely love sharing my life on Instagram. I just get so much joy out of it, but I also know that I spend a lot of time on Instagram and I spend a lot of time taking pictures so it's going to be a nice break. I'm looking forward to it honestly! And who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it so much that I'll take a break every few months!?

My third goal that I've made for myself is to work on spending money on nice quality things and more experiences. Only buy things that are classic and timeless and work on saving for trips with my little family.

I'm looking forward to what 2022 has in store for all of us! Cheers!
